Omaha Hi/Lo - The Rules of the Game

1. In Omaha, you get 4 cards dealt down to you.
2. As the play of the hand progresses, 5 cards are put face up in the middle of the table for all the players to share.
3. The idea is to use 2 and only 2 of the your hole cards and any 3 of the 5 up cards to make the best 5-card poker hand that you can make.
4. The pot is split when 1 player has the high hand and 1 player has the best low hand. Note: the low hand must have 5 cards without a pair with a card higher than an 8. For example: A, 4, 5, 6, 8. An Ace counts low in a low hand and high in a high hand. If there is no low hand, the player with the best high hand wins the entire pot.
5. In Omaha, a dealer button moves around the table from player to player as if that player was dealing.
6. In Omaha, you do not have an ANTE. Instead of an ANTE, there are 2 blind bets that are put up by the 2 players on the immediate left of the dealer button.
7. Blind bets are bets that are put into the pot by the players before they see any cards.
8. The first player to bet before the flop is the player to the left of the blind bets.
9. The first player to bet after the flop is the first player (still in the hand), to the left of the dealer button.

The Play

1. In Omaha, you start by getting 4 cards face down on the first deal.
2. Followed by a round of betting based on how well you like your first 4 cards.
3. After the betting round has been completed, the dealer will put 3 cards face up in the middle of the table for all players to share. (This is called the flop).
4. The idea is to look over the flop and your 4 hole cards and see if you think you have a good poker hand, or a chance to make a good poker hand. (There are 2 more cards to come.)
5. After the flop, there is another round of betting.
6. When that betting round has been completed, the dealer will put another card face up in the middle of the table to go along with the first 3 up cards.
7. Followed by another round of betting.
8. Once the betting round is completed, the dealer will put another card face up in the middle of the table to go along with the other 4 up cards. This will be the final card and the last chance to make or improve your hand.
9. A final round of betting occurs.
10. When the final round of betting is completed, all players that stayed in the pot will turn over their cards to see who has the best high hand and the best low hand.
11. The player with the best high hand and the best low hand will then be declared the winners and the dealer will push the pot to the players.
12. Note: It is possible for 1 player to have both the best high hand and the best low hand and win the whole pot. For example: Ace, 2, 3, 4, 5 (a straight for high and the best low hand possible).
