Here are My goals for 2012

Yearly goals
I would like to increase my poker knowledge and I intend to do this by watching videos, reading books and searching the internet for information in achieving this. I would like to be a Gold Star every month and I intend to do this by playing Mtt's, SnG's and cash games which in return will give me my money goal of $6,000.

Monthly goals

To be a Gold Star VIP (3,000 VPP's), I will play 10 regular Mtt's for a total of $100, 100 regular 18 man SnG's at $3.50 for a total of $350 and 40,000 hands of shorthanded $0.05/$0.10. I will watch 4 videos, do 8 hours of reading and 4 hours of hand analysis. As for my financial goal, I will make $500 which will include Stellar Rewards, Monthly VIP tournaments and FPP cash transfer.

Weekly goals

20 hours a week
2-3 Mtt's (combine with the SnG's)
25 SnG's (4 tables for 6 hours)
10,000 hands of cash games (10 tables for 14 hours)
1 video and 2 hours of reading
1 hour of hand analysis with PT3 or via the Poker School forum
Weekly VIP tournaments

I will not spend more than my monthly bankroll and I will not spend more time on poker as per my set goals so I can spend time with the family and other activities.

Buy following those goals, I will get $400 in Stellar Rewards and I will of accumulated 72,000 FPP's for the entire year, which I can exchange for close to $950 for a total of $1,350 or keep those FPP's for tournaments.

ME:

To use my Double Up option and cash in at least one real money tournament out of the 8. I mean really, 16 tourneys and no cash would be pretty sad..........

To place in the top 50 next month in the PSO Open.

To place in the top 50 in Premier in February.

To qualify for one event for the SCOOP.

To get a bankroll without deposit, of at least $200.00 by the end of March.

To place top 10 in a Weekly Tourney.

I think I can do a couple of these, but realistically, one would be awesome !!!!

Peace

Hi Sandman,

I have a question about one of your goals.

You set a limit of playing 20 hours a week, so you could spend more time with the family. You have also set a goal to make gold star every month. So my question is if you don't quite make goal star but needed 2 hours more play in the last week of the month. will you play the extra hours or will you accept the silver star.

The answer may be 80 hours a month is plenty to be gold star. I really don't know the answer.

Hey Grade,

In reality, 10,000 hands a week would give me 3,000 VPP's and should take close to 14 hours, so the SnG's and the MTT's would just be a bonus. I did promise my wife, no more than 20 hours. So after the first two months I might need to adjust. But to answer your question, 20 hours is the max.

But after doing some calculation, I should be OK

It shouldn't be in Community meet-up, but more in Challenges & Battleground, as it's more of a challenge

I think I'm all set for 2012

I've played 8,000 hands of .05/.10 SH in 7 hours, so 10,000 hands in 14 hours is no problem. The problem will be to pick the right tables with the right players. I've been working on it, I've been writing lots of notes on players.
I've also played 20 SnG's regular in just over 3 hours, therefore also no problems reaching 25 in 6 hours.
As for the MTT's, this should not be a problem either, as I will only play 2 or 3 a week.

I've been reviewing every hand I've lost with more than 10BB in the cash games and I'm already seeing some leaks. I've also watched 2 videos and I'm also reading Professional No-Limit Hold'em Vol 1

So, how am I doing after a week?

Cash games: Down $18.65
SnG's: Up $36.35
MTT's: ----------
Total: Up $17.70

VPP's: 519
FPP's: 779

The year 2012 has started and so did I

Cash games
Played 9,071 hands in 10 hours
I've been muti-tabling between 10 and 12 tables, the reason for the difference is that, once I reach a profit of 30% on a table, I close it. (take the money and run.....lol)
During this period, I have a profit of $38.22 and have accumulated 479.27 vpp's
With the new vpp calculation for 2012, I will need to adjust, because at this rate, I'll be about 400 vvp short of my monthly goals.

Sit & Go's
Played 100 SnG's in 10 hours
Been muti-tabling 10 of them. I decided to play 9 man bounty, 9 man regular, 18 man regular and 27 man regular
Cashed in 38 of them. two of them was 1st in the 27 man for a 38% ITM
During this period I made a profit of $67.62 and accumulated 182.28 vpp's

Mtt's

Haven't played any yet

Summary

After the first week, I have a total profit of $105.84 and 661.55 vpp's
I will need to adjust for the new vpp calculations so to reach my goals without going over 20 hours a week. For now, I'll be playing 100 SnG's instead of 25 per week. Also noticed more LAG players wanting to see bigger pots.

Well done so far. Also, I admire your formatting. Probably going to be rough making up the VPP's within the same period of time... maybe play more turbo STT's? Or just forget Hold'em altogether and take up PLO. With the new VPP changes, one can only imagine how much crazier those games have gotten.

Hey Sandtrap,

I am going to take an executive decision and put this in Challenges and Battleground as requested.

I am impressed with your approach and diligence and would just like to pick your brain on a few things. You mention that you are playing between 6 and 12 tables SH (6max I assume) and that you are taking extensive player notes. How do you do that? Do you take notes during play or when you are reviewing hands later. As I mentioned in another thread I do not know how you guys can make these MT decisions so quickly, kudos!

Are you using a HUD and if so which one would you recommend?

And the third and final question: would it be possible to rail you some day during a session? I really admire the way both yourself Panicky approach the game and the only way to get better is to learn from those that are better than you

Thanks,

TC
