The PSO Cardroom software is a an important learning tool. On the software, you can practise techniques taught by our instructors along with other students, compete with members in our leagues to earn sponsorship points (used to play in real tournaments), meet and learn from seasoned students about the game and most of all, we hope all of our members have fun while playing. Live help is always available to report any sort of problem.
The Cardroom software is used by three distinctively different sites. Each has its own color scheme, lobby, and tables. You can switch between the sections by clicking the appropriate tab in the lobby.
Before we continue with this guide, we must first make sure that everyone has the cardroom software.
You will not need to download the Cardroom software if you have already downloaded Poker Cardroom software from any of these 3 sites:
PokerPages.com
BugsysClub.com
PokerSchoolOnline.com
If you have downloaded any Poker Cardroom Software from the above, you will be able to access the PokerSchool Online section by using your PokerSchoolOnline username & password and then clicking the PokerSchool tab in the lobby.

The initial screen you'll be presented with tells you the status of the program. This screen will disappear after 20 seconds or so.

The next screen to appear is the log-in screen. This screen serves two purposes:
Please Note: the password is case sensitive.
If you don't want to have to re-type your username and password the next time you login, click on the small box that says, 'remember name and password'.
After entering your username and password, click the 'Login' button.
Once you log in, you'll see the lobby screen. From the lobby you can join tournaments, join side action tables, observe tournaments, or specify criteria for the tournaments you want to see displayed.
The first row of tabs that you see are buttons that will take you to the different site's Cardrooms.
For our tutorial, please choose the center tab - PokerSchool Online.
The second row of tabs Displays all of the different games types that are available in the chosen cardroom. A tab with red writing means that there is a game going on or someone is on the wait list to start one. Black writing means that no one is on any wait list and there are no games going. Finally, a greyed out tab means that the game type has not been scheduled at this time.
Tournies Tab
This is the first tab in the row. Clicking on this tab will bring you to a list of tournaments. If you click on one of the tournaments in the list, you see the far right side panel change to give you information about the tournament. Including when it starts, the structure and the payout structure.
Sit & Go tabs
These tabs follow the Tournies tab. These small tables are also known as 'on demand' games. It means that the game will start when the minimum number of players needed have joined the game. If you click on one of the tabs and select a game, you will see the far right panel change to display information about the game, such as how many more people are needed for the game to start.
Ring Game Tab
Following the Sit & Go Tabs is the Ring game tabs. These tables have no set time limit and start as soon as there are two people at the table. Play as long as you want. Select a game and read information about it in the right hand panel.
Heads Up Tab
The very last tab are for the heads-up tables. This is where you can go one-on-one with another player.
BugsysClub has a different tab arrangement. Its set-up to accommodate ring game players.
An hour before the next scheduled PokerPages software tournament, you will see one or more tournaments listed by name in the top panel. Highlight the one you wish to play in.
In order to get into the tournament you highlighted, click on the far left button at the bottom of the screen called 'Join Event'.
A new small screen will pop up with a message confirming your entry into the tournament. Click 'OK'. You will then be placed on the waiting list for the tournament event until the schedule start time. You will be able to see your name on the waiting list in the side panel.
Until the tournament starts, you can leave the lobby screen open, close it, or minimize it.
If you close the Lobby Screen, you'll need to double click the Ace of Spades icon again and get to the Lobby Screen before the start of the tournament.
If you've left the program open and running (or minimized it), at the scheduled start time of the tournament, the program will automatically open a new screen, called the 'table screen', and seat you at the table. Since a tournament consists of multiple tables, you will be assigned a seat at one of the tables, whose table number is noted in the upper left corner of the screen. To read about what you see on the table screen when the tournament starts, click here.
On the Lobby Screen, you can select which tournament, and which table within that tournament you wish to observe, by doing the following:
While you observe a table, you can Chat with other observers or Players. Please respect that the Players will be concentrating on their game-please don't distract them.
While you are observing or playing a tournament, you can click on the 'Setting' button to:
When you click on the 'Help' button, a new window will open. You'll see a list of topics related to the software. Select the topic that relates to what you need help on. This feature is still under construction.
Clicking 'Logout' will close the program and any open tables. To re-enter the PokerPages software, you'll need to double click on the Ace of Spades icon on your desktop.
When you click the 'About' button, a new screen will appear giving you information on the version of the PokerPages Software you have downloaded onto your local PC. You may be asked which version you are using when you report any problem to PokerPages. Click 'OK' to close this window.
This concludes description of the Lobby.
You will be seated at a table. You will see 2 Panels on the Table Screen: a Table Panel on the left, and a Results and Chat Panel at the far right
Within the Table Panel, you'll see seats around the poker table with usernames and chip counts at each seat location. (Most PokerPages software tournaments start with $10,000 in chips). If you're playing, your username will be at a particular seat, with your chip count.
The first thing you'll want to do is to select which functions you want to appear in the Results and Chat Panel. Click on the drop-down arrow on the top far right of the Results and Chat Panel. Five choices will appear:
To chat with other players or observers at your table, find the small box beside the word 'Type' at the bottom of the Results and Chat Panel and place your cursor within that box and click. [A shortcut to getting your cursor in position for typing chat messages is to simultaneously press the 'Alt' and 'Y' keys on your keyboard-notice on the word 'Type' that the 'y' is underscored. This tells you to use the 'y' key with the 'Alt' key as a shortcut].
You can now begin typing your message. No one sees your message at this point. When you've finished typing press 'Enter' on your keyboard to post the message so players and observers at your table can see your message and respond. It's in your best interest to keep your messages short, to keep the flow of the conversation(s) going.
To see the latest posted messages, make sure that the scroll bar on the far right of the Results and Chat Panel is dragged down to the bottom of the panel.
Below the graphic of the table there are a number of function buttons. You use these buttons to select your actions during the play of a hand, as follows:
At Time of Play Buttons
If there has been action before you, then the Bet button will say 'Raise $Amount' where $Amount equals the amount that has been bet. You'll also notice that the 'Check' button now says 'Call'. You can either raise by the default amount (or increase it using the slide bar or directly typing in the amount in the 'Amount' box), or you can click the 'Call' button.
