Testimonials - Dan's Story

I thought I would take the time to send you this. Having spent several years running a business myself, I know that one happy customer that takes the time to tell you so can erase much of the grief generated by the often overwhelming mass of complaining customers. It is more disheartening to have to listen to their complaints when you are doing your best to resolve them.

So I will take the time. I was adrift in the sea of online poker with no land in sight last June. After losing my entire bankroll in the first eight weeks in November 2004, I started again in January 2005 with a smaller bankroll at smaller buyins. After a year and a half, I had tripled my 2nd bankroll and had recovered much of my initial loss, but was still grinding and not really going anywhere as a player at all. I had bought the books, watched the shows, but nothing every really changed. I was nearly ready to admit I'd never be any good and it was nearly time to give it up. I just wasn't getting it.

Then I found PSO. It was a safe place where I could learn without risking everything. I could not believe when I first got here the resources available and the quality of play was beyond anything I had previously encountered.
Then I found PSO. It was a safe place where I could learn without risking everything. I could not believe when I first got here the resources available and the quality of play was beyond anything I had previously encountered.

So I started to play here and discovered after a time that perhaps I wasn't as bad as I thought I was, I had just never learned how to play correctly.

I decided that if I was going to ever pursue this seriously, I should take Aaron's Phase I in September. I learned much from him and combined what I had learned with my previous experience.

Signing up for Phase II immediately afterwards was a big challenge, considering what effort Phase I had been, but I'm glad I did.

I don't know if you follow student's individual progress, or if you check out the Phase II forum, but I think I have come a long way. I had missed one assignment a while back, but didn't want to skip it since good teachers deserve good effort from their students. I posted my late response today. You may wish to read it, I think you will see what I mean when I say I have come a long way from grinding out $0.70 wins at $1 6 player SNG hoping the two big stacks would go at it and someone would bust before I blinded off.

On a more tangible note, before I joined PSO, I had only ever played a few tournaments online and my best finish ever then was less than halfway no matter how many entrants.

Last month, I achieved Player of the Week, 3rd in Skill League and 2nd in Diamond. I know full well this would never have been possible without PSO as an entity, the resources and community here, and Aaron's courses.

Thank you,

Dan
