Bet Sizing

Another skill in the winning player's armoury is the ability to choose the correct bet size. In no limit Texas Hold'em, bet sizes are considered small or large depending on the size of the pot. For example if you bet less than half the pot size it is considered to be a small bet. If you bet the size of the pot or more, it is considered to be a large bet.

In general:
  • For continuation bets, value bets and dry boards: keep it small.
  • Pre-flop, monster hands and bluffs: go big.
And for everything else stay somewhere in the middle.
