One of the first choices you need to make when learning how to play poker is to decide which type of poker game suits you best. Poker comes in many different variants like No-limit Hold'em, Omaha and Stud to name a few and also many different formats such as Cash Games, Sit and Go's, Multi-table tournaments and so on. But the most common and popular amongst players taking up the game is undoubtedly No-limit Hold'em.

In order to know the basic fundamentals of how to play poker profitably we recommend beginners should concentrate on playing No-Limit Hold'em at the low-limits. That means buying into games that are within your poker bankroll. New players should also spend time studying the Poker Basic Course here at the school and when they feel confident enough they should attempt the Poker Basics Quiz at the end of the course.
