PokerStars Spin & Go Makes One Festive Millionaire

Christmas arrived 10 days early this year for poker player 'jrww86' who became the third Spin & Go millionaire that PokerStars has produced in 2016, and sixteenth since the first $1M Spin and Go tournament launched in January 2015. The Bermuda-based player started playing a $100 PokerStars Spin & Go at 3.00pm ET yesterday, December 15, and 12 minutes later was a millionaire.

'jrww86' was up against 'netspider_by' from Belarus and Russian 'REVELKOF', who both finished with $100,000 in runner-up prize money.

'netspider_by' was the first to find themselves short stacked and was the first to go when their Kd 6c lost out to 'REVELKOF's 6s Qc, which hit a club flush to take the chip lead. Over the next 14 hands, 'jrww86' chipped away at the Russian's stack to eke out a lead. The final hand came at the 30/60 level when 'REVELKOF' went all-in with top pair on a Qs Jd 9h flop holding Qd 3h only to find that 'jrww86' had flopped two pair with Qc Jc. The hand held up and won 'jrww86' the $1,000,000 first prize.

SPIN & GO WINNERS
This year, three players have won one million-dollar Spin & Go tournaments. In February, 'Rainman731' was the fastest-ever Million Dollar Spin & Go winner, claiming the jackpot in just two minutes, followed in March by 'guiemie01' from Brazil. Overall, PokerStars Spin & Go tournaments have created 16 millionaires, including one rich week in October 2015, when six millionaires were made in just seven days.

Spin & Go tournaments are fast-paced, 3-Max Hyper Turbo tournaments that start with 500 chip stacks. Each tournament has a randomly drawn prize pool that awards between two and 10,000 times your buy-in. PokerStars offer Spin & Go tournaments at seven different buy-in levels: $0.25, $1, $3, $7, $15, $30, $60 and $100.

POKERSTARS MICROMILLIONS GIVES WINNER SECOND CHRISTMAS WIN

Thousands of players have been claiming early Christmas presents in the PokerStars Christmas Calendar, but for Stian 'SlemPastor' Hansen, the festive season is definitely one to remember. He celebrated the anniversary of his first big poker win of $40,000 by scooping $70,310.99 and the $22 MicroMillions Marathon Main Event title, all part of the online Christmas Festival promotion, organised by PokerStars.

The 22-year-old from Oslo, Norway, said, "My biggest win was the Supersonic last Christmas for $40,000 on PokerStars, so this was sort of my anniversary." To celebrate, he plans to travel and bring his poker skills to some live poker events in 2017.

For more than ten hours, Hansen, battling as 'SlemPastor', his PokerStars alias, beat fatigue to top the 42,036-strong field to win the Main Event, devouring a smorgasboard of players along the way such as runner-up 'Fofan10' from Russia and Estonian 'markzil' in third.

The next big tournament of the Christmas Festival promotion takes place December 26, when the festive celebrations conclude with the $2M guaranteed Monday Million. Players can buy in for $215 directly or win their seat via satellites starting from just $1 currently running around the clock at PokerStars.com.

The MicroMillions Marathon Main Event was the culmination of 25 micro- and low-stake tournaments throughout December 11. The lowest stake tournament on offer had a buy-in of just $0.11 but saw the winner, 'kiskutyus23', beat a field of 22,403 entries to scoop the top prize of $1,236.57, a massive return 11,000 times greater than the original stake.

The Christmas Festival continues to run online at PokerStars.com. Players can unlock a new festive offer every day as part of the Christmas Calendar in their Challenges Window on the desktop client or mobile app.
