My 3 Mistakes: Ring Games

By: #1(tRKe)1# @ 02:36 (EST) / 80 / Comment ( 0 )

Mistakes I have taken during the full ring games is being a bit 'calling happy' when some pushes me all in on the river. Yes, I had the dominating hand most of the times but other I have been destroyed because I just didn't take the 30 seconds to reflect on the hand. Reasons why I did not just stop and think about is are:

1) I'm in a distracting environment. People are around and the TV is on.

(This should be a easy fix but I'm currently house sharing and I don't have a proper work station so I have to play in the living area where there is the only table in the house)

2) I become over confident with my hand and whats on the table. look at a the hand replay below as a example of how I gained a straight on the turn, my opponent rivers a full house and shoves all in and I called almost instantly. A very silly move on my part, its been 21 days of playing serious poker in micro and I should have recognized his hand strength immediately. Its a habit I need shake.

3) Curiosity; in micro stakes I have many times (but become much less) I have decided to call a $1 or $2 all in just because I don't have any idea what kind of hand my opponent has. I also like to name these learning hands because when I am beat I and see his/her hand I then reflect on how the hand was played and find my leaks/or see if I played the hand correctly.

Those are my big three so far. I just got nailed hard just recently:

Preflop: ($0.03, 8 players) Hero is CO with Jc Kh
1 fold, UTG+1 raises to $0.06, 2 folds, Hero calls $0.06, 3 folds

Flop: Tc Ah 5h ($0.15, 2 players - UTG+1: $3.16, Hero: $3.84)
UTG+1 checks, Hero checks

Turn: Qc ($0.15, 2 players - UTG+1: $3.16, Hero: $3.84)
UTG+1 bets $0.10, Hero raises to $0.22, UTG+1 calls $0.12

River: Ad ($0.59, 2 players - UTG+1: $2.94, Hero: $3.62)
UTG+1 checks, Hero bets $0.32, UTG+1 raises to $2.94 (all-in), Hero calls $2.62

Total Pot: $6.47
UTG+1 shows As Ts (a full house, Aces full of Tens)
Hero shows Jc Kh (a straight, Ten to Ace)

UTG+1 wins $6.24

and then I cry a little then blog about it..
