Rainy May, Losing Control and Pressuring my Stakee

Bankroll Update

PS = 317.50 - 143.5(player transfer) = $174
FTP Sneaky Savings = $17 ( I guess it's that not sneaky anymore lol)

Is it Variance or is it just me?

May is a month of summer in my country. While it's freaking hot outside, inside my poker world - it's raining.  During my last post when I said I will step back to $7 SNG as per business decision, that was a bluff! LOL I didn't stop playing $15 because the adrenalin is just too good for me to pass. It did work for a time and I have reach a proper bankroll again ($341) and was thinking that I have something to write about my next blog regarding courage or something like that. But as variance dictates - I went on a downhill. This is the part where I don't know if i was on the bad side of poker or the bad side of myself( tilt, ego, loose calls/plays, bluffing too much(desperation), etc). I wasn't winning my coin flips, live cards (all in) even if I'm ahead
(eg AJ vs K 10), and if I have a 4-1 advantage ( big pair vs small pair), guess who said hello on the flop? my  opponent's set! (they greet me too on turns and rivers). It was a headache! It was really frustrating. I've burned my 2250 FPP ($25), $10 bonus and all of my FTP sneaky savings playing $15 SNG because of my pride that I can't accept the fact that I've stake up to sell more USD but it backfired. I was selling more USDs when I was playing in $7. So I lose control during those times. I was even becoming a sore loser if a fish beats me with a runner runner or some kind of a back door miracle. I knew this was not good, mentally. What I did was I took a moment to really think what to do. Then I made a simpler plan. I told myself that I don't want to deposit anymore and What I really need to do is save/defend what I had left (i was around $70 and decided to have a 10 buy ins for $7). I started playing tight, solid and aggressive poker. Variance was still cruel to me. What did the trick for me was I started playing 2 tables of $7 when I reached 20 buy ins. I realized that I am investing $15 on 1 game where I could run bad and lose $15 or I can invest $14 on 2 games and they have to beat me twice plus if I lose on 1 table, I can still catch up with the other one plus multi  tabling is so much fun even if it's draining. May was really a losing month for me as I almost went broke but  I did managed to survived, at least. Well the plan now is to stay at $7 and add more tables. I will still occasionally play at $15, if the mood is right, hahaha. and on top of it all, I lose around $100 on a live  cash game on the last day of the month ( just like icing in a cake LOL) just after my friend deposited my "pokerstar" earnings. But of course, I still left enough money to cover "poker expenses" for next month.

Mayday! Mayday! Need help Man!

During my last "friendly stake" - My stakee earned me $50 on top of my $15 stake capital($65 total), not bad right?. I encourage them to start and learn at $1.50 and play just one format of SNG. During my upswing, I have stake my poker buddy in my workplace for the same deal and he had a hard time getting to $35 as he said his premium hands were being crush by the rags due to loose play on that stake( well actually, I've seen looser plays on $7 and $15. I guess that's the way it is no matter what stake you are in). He was at $29 and I decided to stake him $6 more so He can play at $3.50 where mentality he will be comfortable playing. He was crushing the game and It was a win-win for us. Our plan was to split $300 between us($150 each). But due to my downswing, I have to take an earlier cash out. But the problem is, He was on the downswing himself. He has around $100 for us to split up and he will have around $50 left to play $3.50 which is > 20 buy ins. plus I want my investment to at least triple up. So I decided not to mess with what he had and move on to save myself. Luckily, it worked. This experience has humbled me again that sometimes luck is a big factor in poker and we should be humble during good variance and don't ever think that it was all you. It is always easier to play when you have good cards.

Monthly Summary

I consider this my losing month as I have earned a 4 figure payday in my currency compared to the usual 5. I didn't really lose any of my own money but what I've earned OL is my money now. I will continue to grow it and defend it as hard as I can.
