The 'situation'

Ok so for about 3 or 4 years now I have been playing at the micros on stars basically just trying to get better and achieve some moderate success. I had never really set myself any concrete goals so, probably predictably, I didnt get much better. Then at the start of 2012 I set myself the goal of getting to 50NL from 10NL with the help of watching videos on here and studying hand histories, reading books etc.

I started off at 10NL, had to drop down to 5NL and then ended the year back at 10NL with an overall profit of $151.40. Needless to say it wasn't exactly what I'd been hoping for. I feel like I have a pretty good grasp of the fundamentals and also some of the more advanced issues (sadly probably too advanced for 5 and 10NL and I think this didnt help) but I am also capable of some astoundingly stupid plays! Mainly bluffing people that cant be bluffed and other very frustrating and indefensible plays. (Not folding to raises with a big hand, convinced I am constantly being bluffed to name but two more). For all you stattos I beat 5NL for 5.71BB/100 over 28K hands and lost 0.09BB/100 at 10NL over 88K hands. Which to me anyway seems odd, I mean the games are basically the same. The dreaded tag of breakeven grinder was looming large!

So for 2013 I kept the goal the same and hopefully I am playing a game that is much more suited to the stakes I am at rather than the possibly 'correct' plays you can read about.

At the moment I play a spread of 10NL 16NL and 25NL and while I havent completely ironed out all the daft plays I think I am making positive progress.

To date I am running $250 below EV which is sad but like I say I feel I am playing well so fingers crossed.

Outside of poker I am currently unemployed but spending my time rennovating my new flat which is nearly complete. I mostly play at night but also whenever else I can, hopefully I will take a little while to find a new job so I can put some real hours in!

To borrow a phrase from good old Walt 'Thats all for now folks!'
