Back to school!

It took a while, but finally I decided that I was punching above my weight. After dropping a couple of buy-ins at 10NL zoom 6 max, and tilt signing up for a ton of tournies that I wasn't giving the attention they deserved - I decided it was time to head back to school.  Although my bankroll didn't take too big of a hit (From 550 to around 500) I felt like it was time to make a change.

I was playing too high, not because I lacked the proper bankroll - rather I hadn't taken the time to beat the limits I needed to. I took it upon myself to cash out - leaving $80 to begin afresh @2NL - and start educating myself properly again and so far it's going great. Part of the realisation was that I was playing the wrong game. As a 6 max player I feel like I can win every hand (and usually proceed to try and do so :-P ) but as a somewhat loose (at least in terms of opening ranges) FR player, I am far more effective. I understand the ranges better, play a more thoughtful game and as a result am more profitable. In fact, since re-dedicating myself to improving my poker knowledge and reigning in my aggression (Read: willingness to bluff like a spewtard) I have shown a decent profit at 6 max as well (though a significantly higher winrate @ FR).

After my first 8k hands I'm up around $47 and just playing an altogether more solid, considerate game, applying concepts as I go and finally understanding the game properly! Maybe in time I'll re-deposit the BR I withdrew but for now, 2NL is probably where i belong :)
