Big Bust Out...Was it worth it?

By: Bdog145 @ 09:50 (EST) / 551 / Comment ( 0 )

I haven't been playing many PSO tournaments lately b/c I've been busy working--but after working for 36 hour straight w/ no sleep...I felt like I deserved to play one (last night's 7pm) right b/f I get some much needed rest.

It was a quick one--I only played 3 hands and it was my worst bust out ever...over 20 NEGATIVE POINTS!!!  Dropped me from #3 to #10 (1909.35 to 1888.72) and its late in the month.  So this morning I'm trying to figure out if it was worth the risk.

Hand #1

KK (me) vs 56s vs AQoff  I was a decent fav here...unfortunately I had 2 callers and very early in the tourney so it was very risky for me...result the 56s flops inside straight draw...hits his straight on the river...I go from 1470 to 180 in chips--not in a good position, but I'm not panicing just yet...blinds are small and I will get to look at some hands and just need to double up to stay a live for when the blinds increase.

Hand #2

K,8off I got to limp in for $30 in the BB...yeppie--at this point very happy to see a flop!  I flop middle pair...the flop was 8,3,J--I check it, as does everyone else.  Another J on the the boad looks like this 8,3,J,J--I felt like I had the best hand so I push my tiny stack in only $150 to call me--lol.  I get one call and two folds.  He flips over 9,10 an open-ended draw...yeppie.  I collect the pot after the river and now I'm up to $480 in chips--I'm in much better shape, but obviously still have some work to do, but I'm calm and I know I still have time...blinds still small--I just have to be patient.

Hand #3

QQ (me) vs AQoff blinds up to 50/25 I've been saving my $480 for a good I push and get my caller.  I'm a 70% fav here, but he hits an Ace on the flop and there goes my tournament.

I was out in like 35 mins or so...played 3 hands...each time I pushed my chips I was the fav...but in the end I ended up being a big loser....hahaha

Was it worth it?  Yes!  For someone else it might not have been worth it to play, but for me I finally got to squeeze a tournament in after some hard work (in the real world) and even though I got punished severly for the poor finish.  I can feel good about my poker decisions and if I continue to push my chips while I'm the fav, it should catch up to day will come, I'm not worried about it :)

Good luck to everyone!
