Sunday Quarter-Million

By: Belnik @ 11:01 (EST) / 250 / Comment ( 1 )

I love the Sunday Quarter Million, and I try to play it every chance I get.  Where else in the world can you turn $11 into $20 - $30,000 in an 8 hour day?  I've had a few deacent runs in the tournament before, but never cracked the top 1000 until this past Sunday.  I started at the very begining and within a few hands, I had built a chipstack that was 2 x average.  I kept this going for quite a while, and it was pretty easy because I was hitting a hand every 5-10 and getting people to go all in without me acting several times when I had the nuts.  But as we broke into the top 1000, my stack was down to average, and by the time we were down to 500, I was below average.  I did pretty good playing the short stack for a while, but when the blinds hit 10000/20000 I was down to 100,000 and got Qh9h in the BB, and a guy who had me covered went all-in, I figured him for a middle pair and called, and he had JJ, the flop came 3, 10, 8 rainbow, so with 7 outs left the turn and river didn't come through and I finished 308/33463 and cashed for $130.50.  I am happy with that and it was my best run and best online cash to date.  Hopefully I'll get the right hands at the right times next time, and if you have $11 and want to try and make a half year's salary in a Sunday afternoon, I'll see you at the tables!
