Too close for comfort

By: Bl@nkD @ 09:14 (EDT) / 177 / Comment ( 0 )

The sweat on my brow reminded me that i'd been sitting here for too long without any fan. I didn't want to get up and turn the fan on, this late in the tournament a wrong move could mean staying in the tournament or getting booted out with nothing to show for it but a sweaty shirt.

I held an ace and a 5 but i wasn't going to let that make me worried,
i had to take a chance. It's now or never... I called the 20 000 chips hoping that the
other guy would fold. He was relentless in his game, never giving up,.. He raised. Something
told me that he could be bluffing, so taking a chance, I called.

3 cards landed on the table like 3 feathers blowing in the wind. I couldn't focus on them right away because in my mind, they were still moving. A smile sprung on my face and I rocketed out of my chair like someone being blown out of a barrel of a gun when i saw the ace, My hands must've hit the roof because now they were sore. hallelujah was being sung from somewhere but couldn't quite figure where. Oh it's playing in my head. By the time i had calmed down the timer had already kicked in and threatened to fold my cards. I raised 60 000 forgetting that if the other guy had a higher card than a 5, this could be the end, i held my breathe ... he called. "Noooo, he wasn't meant to do that" I said aloud as if he could hear me through my computer screen.

The turn came and he checked. Like a flash i called another 60 000 chips, Now i was sure he didn't have the ace. He still called me.

The final card landed, it seemed quicker than the first 3 cards for some reason.  I had to check just incase he actually did have a higher kicker than me. He raised. Now I started shaking, I started wondering if I had gone wrong with my gameplay? With shaking fingers I called.

This was it... I had almost no chips left... I was out for sure.

Cards showed and he had the 4. I WON I WON, I screamed. Tears almost filled my eyes.

In the end I reached the final table and won around $10. It was all worth it in the end.
