Improvement In Cash Ring Games

By: ClubbedNuts @ 09:25 (EST) / 620 / Comment ( 3 )
I have been spending more time playing cash Ring Games as of late working to earn my 20 FPPs in order to maintain my Active status for the PSO SL.. The good news is that I've been able to profit in 75% of my recent showings.. Catching the right amount of luck coupled with solid, consistent play has offered me this success.. I have utilized my improved ability to read my opponents learned through the SL and applied it to the Ring Games with a high degree of success.. Granted, I still make mistakes, but I've learned to minimize them by staying focused on the play at hand and how my opponents react to the spread.. I still have much to learn as I intend to move up in stakes and work to achieve a goal of a $100.00 p/week profit.. I understand that this isn't always going to be possible, but that won't stop me from making my best effort..

I like the swing in dynamic between Ring Games and tournaments and feel it helps me maintain an edge and keeps my thought processes functioning at a higher level.. Last month I became so complacent in my style of play that I believe I lost a bit of that edge.. I would eventually like to branch out into playing other variations of Poker, but for the time being I intend to stick with NLHE; be-it Ring Games or MTTs (including SnGs).. Additionally, playing in the Ring Games helps me to gain a better perspective of tournament play despite being a whole different beast.. I feel that I'm better able to analyze my opponents' play and concentrate more on the fundamentals of the game of Poker as I feel less pressure to play all of my hands 'by the book'.. I feel this has offered me new insight in regard to playing in tournaments and helped me develop a better understanding of many of the concepts relating to position, betting, style et cetera..

A couple of questions:

What are some of your thoughts relating to switching up your games or, do you remain static and stick strictly to playing in the PSO SL and other MTTs..? If you do vary your playing venue, do you feel that it has helped your game, diverted your attention relating to MTT play, or has made little impact either way..? When mixing it up a little, what are some of the areas where you feel that you've improved upon or, on the flip-side, recognized a decline in your successes..?

I like to ask questions in my posts in order to keep my viewers engaged rather than simply reading, or worse, scanning over the content only to overlook many of the points and find no interest in finishing the read.. Moreover, I enjoy ingniting debate and reading your responses as they certainly offer benefits to all parties involved, including myself.. There is definitley a time and place where simply making a statement is warranted, but why not gather some feedback in the process..? My intention is to create an opportunity for everyone to learn something, even if at the time that something seems trivial or unrelated to your goals.. The point here is that even by simply reading the material, you offer yourself the ability to retain the information somewhere with-in your mental rolodex for use at a later time.. I am often suprised that even after years of being on stand-by, stored thoughts and experiences pop into my mind whether my current activity calls for these recollections or not.. The human mind is a powerful and amazing tool and I like to keep the mouse spinning the wheel as much as possible..

I look forward to your comments/suggestions and hope to hear from you soon.. Until then, best of luck..!
