Dealing with stress?

By: EvokeNZ @ 20:19 (EDT) / 361 / Comment ( 4 )

As I mentioned in my forum thread, this past week has been a shaky one. Literally.

The biggest earthquake took place on Sunday night and all the public transport was out of order on Monday, and it was just all sorts of emotional mayhem. I don't want to say it was horrible because it wasn't as bad as it was in Christhurch two years ago or even in China on the same day, but it was still scary. And just a few days after what they said was the biggest storm in the last 40 years...

Here's a video map of what transpired:

I've been wound up tighter than a spring, jumping up at any shake. So sitting around and thinking about poker has been difficult.

This last couple of days I discovered the Steam Sale had been on and I didn't even notice, so I went on a bit of a buying spree, getting some cheap things on my wishlist. Then I found out they have the new trading card system where you earn collectable cards as you play any of the games. They sure know how to feed on the OCD of gamers

But it's been good, you know, just sit around play more casual games, not stress about poker or raiding in WoW, just play a few single player games here and there. Almost relaxing.

Don't Starve is a really fun game, guess it's a prettier minecraft? And Puzzle Quest: Galatrix had me playing for hours too. I tried the Walking Dead game as well, it's really well made, but scary.

Today I'm trying to get some more poker done, but a few days not playing rustified my skills a bit. Funny isn't it - the don't use it and lose it adage is live and well here.

At least it's stopped raining and the sun is shining, so I can enjoy a bit of what soon will be spring - don't even need to heat the house today!

Hope you're all well and not so rollercoastery,
