Just one click...

Well folks it's that time again.. WBCOOP is upon us and although I have never before participated I have heard great things and can't wait to give it a shot.

So what's my best moment? I hear you ask. People say you always remember the big pots you lost, the bad beats, those crushing moments where you wonder why you bother, with perfect clarity. But rarely can you recall how you built your roll or that time you binked a 2 outer on the river to take down a nice pot. I think most of you will agree there is some truth to this. Especially when you're having a bit of a rough patch, you think it may never end. But those few good moments you do recall are what get you through the bad times. That and the hope of having even better moments in the future and hitting a big score. I've been sitting here at my computer for days now trying to think, reading through other blogs of people's high points in poker and thinking about my own. But which do I choose to write about? What was my best?

Maybe my first deep-ish run? It started off just a regular old boring night when the urge came to hit the tables. I noticed a few low buy in tournaments starting and decided to fire them up. I seemed to go like usual, early bust out in the $1.35 turbo knockout, average cash in a $2.20 game, nothing special. But the darkness of night crept in and still I was slowly building a nice stack in a 6-max. 2000+ runners and we were down to under 100. I'd gone through the lows of the coolers and bad beats and experienced the highs of the comebacks. Made it to high twentys before the wheels came off and I was busto. Not a big cash by any means but it wasn't the money I was happy about, I'd came closer to taking down a large feild MTT than ever before and for the first time felt it was possible.

Or perhaps when I discovered my new favourite game? Starting off pretty strapped for cash I was looking for any kind of extra value I could get. That's when I stubled across the astronomer freerolls. Since a young age I'd dabbled in different varieties of poker but never played them seriously. They were free so I gave everything a shot and found a whole new appreciation for all the different games I'd played as a boy and sense of excitement at some new discoveries. 2-7 single draw is the game. At first it seemed alien, complex and confusing. But after a while I got the hang of it. On only my second single draw tourney I came within an inch of getting a Sunday Round 2 ticket and those that play them know only a small percentage of the feild gets tickets. Then on my third go I actually took it down. In that moment I felt like Stu Ungar, figuring out a game in no time. In reality I was just slightly above the average skill level of a freeroll player but the feeling was great.

Then again could it be my discovery of Poker School Online? What a place! So many great learning tools and awesome people. The lessons and laughs I've had at live training and Home Games, the people I've met and friends I've made, even won a few not too shabby prizes along the way. It's truely a wonderland for the keen to learn player and has help my game tremendously.

Now perhaps it's a strange way to look at it but if I really think about it my greatest moment comes down to just one click... Download. I chose to play at PokerStars. That one choice, that one click is what gave me the opportunity to do all these things and more, it opened up a whole new world of poker to me and gave me licence to persue my passion. I've played on a few other sites but nothing comes close to being as good. So PokerStars, thank you for just being here, you've definately earned that rake!
