Post 9 - February Mid-Point

By: FilthyHermit @ 22:26 (EST) / 153 / Comment ( 0 )

The second week of February has been quite nice to me; from starting the month with a $10 deficit from a couple of tilted sessions I have been able to more than erase that amount and bring it up to over a $15 profit. Grinding the 2NL tables is fun and frustrating at the same time; getting over-paid some hands, ridiculously sucked out on others and watching other players take the whales cash time and time again while you've been card dead for the past two hours (well the 2NL whales aren't very big, but you know what I mean).

Running at about 9BB/100 for the past week as the bottom line kept rising, this was a very nice patch showing what I can achieve when I don't let my emotions get the best of me. From my mid-range estimates, it looks like I have to grind around 25k hands at 2NL to achieve a 150FPP level where I can then go with gusto into the Premier League looking to earn some bucks in March.

This is my goal for this month: that many hands in a single monthly period is a massive difference from my usual playing time invested and it is a decent test of my perseverence and patience. Currently I am sitting on about 78FPPs from 12.5k hands so the goalposts are reasonably accurate for end of month.

I think the one big change that I am learning to adapt into my game is the concept of playing ranges. Until this year I had never thought of using a HUD or other stats collection tool to assist in reading and noting player behaviour and tendencies. But this has been brilliant in opening my eyes to the types of information available if you choose to use and study the data.

Sliding into a smarter mode, using available tools and taking advantage of studying the online education tools here at PSO are starting to pay divvy, particularly when looking to maximise profit through the streets and generally improve my game and tighten some of the (now more noticable) leaks.

Looking to continue the good work for the rest of February.
Good luck to all
