Week 2

So this week hasnt been so great for me in terms of my bankroll but it has been educational.

I was up to $20 in my bankroll last weekend, however I had a downswing and busted out, I couldnt seem to catch the cards and I think my confidence took a bit of a knock so I wasnt playing as many hands as I could have been which didnt help matters.

I put another $10 into my account and had mixed success im at about $7 now though Ive had a couple wins and losses at the $1.50 SNG fifty50.

I also decided to spend some of my FPP and bought into a $1000 prize pool game for 20FPP which was actually really educational. I placed 288th of around 4000 entrants and won a massive 56c.

Doing this showed up a flaw in my game, that when I get into the big stacks im a bit lost. I was at around 8k which is the most I've had to play with and facing off against people with 15-20k+, some were playing quite loose others tight. I found that I wasnt too sure about where / when to call initially especially with the loose players who were going all in quite often.

I learnt from this that even at $1000 blinds people will fold to a 3x BB raise just as easily as they will at $30 blinds so my gameplan shouldnt be affected by the $ value of my stack but rather the % of chips I will have to commit to the pot.

Next time I plan to try be more aggressive if I reach the big stacks and to not let the big stacked players intimidate me.

Incidentally I may have ended this tournament higher, the hand that busted me was my AQos Vs KK, I hit a pair or 2xpair on the flop/turn and my opponent hit KKK on the river.

Other news this week, my poker books arrived so I plan to study inbetween playing and try some new tactics.
Books I bought were:
Harrington on Holdem: Expert strategy for NL tournaments 1- strategic play
Play poker like the pros - Phil Hellmuth Jr
The Mammoth Book of Poker - Paul Mendelson
