While My PSO Rank Gently Weeps

By: GDGamble @ 10:58 (EDT) / 857 / Comment ( 0 )
Note: Ever since the recent unfortunate events as of late, this post is purely theory since it is no longer relevent to me now.  But I already had it typed up so I decided to post it anyway.

The title is still appropriate though since I can no longer participate in PSO tourneys I can no longer advance in the ranks.  The title was originally meant to convey the pain my rank feels when I try to enter too many tourneys at once.

Basically I looked at three things in my performance:
1) How I would have done if I had only entered the tournaments that gained me positive points
2) How I would have done if I had at least gotten the lowest positive points possible (for me my lowest positive score was 1.6)
3) Compared my current place on the board compared to both of those scores

The results:
My current rank is..............................................................................................................1381
Without my negative points I would be ranked .............................................................561
If I had at least scored a 1.6 in all of the negative tournaments I would be.............480

Another thing to note was how I improved over the month.  Yesterday as they were announcing that US players are not allowed in cash games anymore I was sitting at the final table of a tourney with over 1000 entrants.  As you can see I placed #4 there.  If I had chosen to only play a few tourneys a day instead of every one that was offered, that would have been the one I picked since I'm in top form around that time of the day.

So as the rest of the month progressed who knows how well I would have done?

Now that I can no longer participate in the PSO league tournaments I guess I won't have to worry about running multiple tournaments since Harrah's and Lumiere place frown on people signing up for their tournaments and driving back and forth between the two places to play a hand and then sit out for 45 minutes to drive to the next place to play a hand.

Also, it was nice playing tournaments in my own home where I wasn't forced to breathe in second hand smoke and body odor (with the exception of my own of course.)  But this isn't a comparison of online vs live games; I'll save that for a later post.
