Selling Pieces of Yourself part 2 – a Walkthrough

By: Grade b @ 19:38 (EDT) / 392 / Comment ( 2 )

Please note this is long with no pretty pictures ( I just spent an hour trying to get images uploaded from image shack with no success so hohum very sorry)

For those of you that don’t know MM8 [micro millions 8] is just around the corner. 100 low buy-in games for all of us micro grinders. This is probably my second favorite series that poker stars offers [the bloggers championship was the first].

Officially the event starts July 17 through till July 27 lowest buying is $0.11 the highest buying the main event at $22. However, satellites are already running, for a lot of the events, with buy-ins as low as 1 FPP.

So, I want to look at whether or not to offer a staking package for this micro millions. I did this in a series of steps.

1. Read the rules. I’ve read through the PSO rules [as this is where I’m planning to offer my stake].

2. Why am I selling? Well as I said in my last piece I find a concentrate better knowing I have my peers railing. Yes I know PSO members would come in rail for free if we asked them to put why not give them a bit of a sweat as well.

3. How many shares? What type of stages is this? And what markup? Normally I would do 10 shares 1% each on a strictly 1% of the profit basis. In the past I have offered a slight discount for markup I’m not sure this time but I think I will go with a 0% markup. However if it fits my schedule I may throw in a few bonus games.

4. What games am I playing? This is going to be the main focus of this blog, I’m going to put it together as I write this. Step one: I am willing to invest up to $50 in this tournament. Step two: okay what games are actually on offer, time to go to

Fig 1 Part of the schedule

Now you can print that schedule on the page but instead I’m going to open up Microsoft XL and paste it in there. Personally I prefer playing the smaller buy-in games [it just means I can play more of them]. So I’m going to take the schedule and re-order it by buying lowest to highest. Next I’m going to highlighting yellow all of the games I fancy playing and fit the time zone I am in. For this first round I’m only going up to the $3.30 games.

Fig 2 games I hope to play

This gives me 23 games highlighted and a potential buy in of $66.03. Next I moved them back into date order and along the side I’m going to note days I’m working, swimming lessons, ball games and other commitments. Games I’m going to miss completely I will mark red and games by I will miss some that might make late registration I will mark blue.

Figure 3 Games I can play cant play and could reg late for (partial schedule)

This gives me 11 games I think I should be up to play from beginning to end with a buy-in of $31.82. Time to reorder the schedule and take a nice hard look at the 11 games. I will sort them by color just so I have all the games I’m potentially playing together.

3 NL hold-em games

1 NL hold em turbo

1NL Turbo zoom

1 NL hold em 6 max

1 FLhold em turbo 6 max

1 PLO turbo 6 max

1 PL courchevel And a

NL hold em hyper heads up game.

Normally I would prefer a 50-50 split hold ‘em and other games. Unfortunately most of those games eight-game stud high low 27 single draw seem to be at times I can’t make this time around.

I will put these 11 games into a proposal and put it up at PSO.

something like....

Offering the following 11 games of micro millions eight at the stake.

17-Jul 18:30 MicroMillions-005: $3.30 NL Hold'em, $25K Gtd

19-Jul 12:00 MicroMillions-021: $3.30 PL Omaha [6-Max, Turbo], $15K Gtd

19-Jul 18:30 MicroMillions-024: $2.20 NL Hold'em, $15K Gtd

19-Jul 22:00 MicroMillions-025: $3.30 NL Hold'em [Ante Up], $10K Gtd

20-Jul 8:30 MicroMillions-029: $3.30 NL Hold'em [Turbo, Zoom], $40K Gtd

21-Jul 18:30 MicroMillions-043: $3.30 NL Hold'em [6-Max], $25K Gtd 2

5-Jul 18:30 MicroMillions-079: $3.30 PL Courchevel, $5K Gtd

26-Jul 12:00 MicroMillions-086: $1 NL Hold'em, $15K Gtd

26-Jul 13:00 MicroMillions-087: $3.30 FL Hold'em [6-Max, Turbo], $10K Gtd

27-Jul 11:00 MicroMillions-095: $2.22 NL Hold'em [Hyper-Turbo, Heads-Up], $20K Gtd,No Late Reg

27-Jul 17:30 MicroMillions-099: $3.30 NL Hold'em [Turbo], $40K Gtd

Offering 10 shares of 1% for the price of $.32. I understand this is a slight markup of 0.12 cents and therefore I offer the following.

1. I have also signed up for the micro millions challenge [play more than six tournaments and get entered into the micro millions flippament and any prizes won in that tournament will be added to the prize pool.

2. I also plan on playing several FPP satellite games and will add the prize money [if any] from the first 5 FPP satellites I play after closing the selling of shares on this stake.

Finally I need to decide on conditions. E&OE*

1. I’m willing to sell up to 10% but will play all games regardless of shares sold. One share of 1% per person, shares will be allocated to on a first post first considered basis i.e. first 10 people to post receive the shares once they have transferred the state money.

2. Any events not played may be substituted for a similar game at my discretion all will be refunded at the prorated amount.

3. I will confirm entry to all scheduled tournaments or state that I am not playing a tournament that is the case before the start of the event in question. [Obviously, in the event of an emergency where I am a) nowhere near my computer b) have no power or c) something I haven’t thought of, I will then update at the first possible opportunity.]

4. When I remember I will do updates on Twitter @graden1 as well as PSO.

5. Family first, should I be needed by a family member I will be sitting out of the game for as long as I am needed.

6. This is meant as a fun stake I will be doing my best to make 11 final tables as well as 11 wins but please note it might not happen. [That said, if I make some complete bonehead or unexplainable play please feel free to explain in detail a more profitable/sensible way to play.]

7. I will use the second posting on this thread to update games/results and will try and do this within 48 hours of finishing a game. [Normally I’m quite good at updating but if I miss one a gentle reminder would not be amiss)

8. I reserve the right to use my judgment in any potential deal making for tournament prize pool.

*E&OE Errors and omissions excepted.

I hope this makes sense, see the tables,
