David “Chip” Reese (March 28, 1951 – December 4, 2007) was regarded as one of the greatest poker players of all time. A fixture in the highest stakes games for many years, Chip Reese earned the respect of all his peers at the upper echelon of poker. He was considered to be one of the best, if not the best, mixed games player in the world. Doyle Brunson asked Chip to write the 7 card stud section of his famous book Super System. In it, Doyle described Chip as "one of the two finest... poker players in the world" and the best seven-card stud player he had ever played.
In honor of one of the true all time legends of poker, I’ve asked to host a memorial tournament in his name here at PSO. The tournament will be a HORSE event, in honor of Chip’s status as one of the best mixed games players ever to take the felt, and his subsequent affirmation of that status with a WSOP Bracelet in the inaugural $50,000 buy in HORSE event in 2006.
