I think that in the 1usd buy in 45 man tournaments that playing well is not as important as is playing all your premium hands aggressively from the mid game onwards and below I will set you a strategy and reasons to do so.

$15 buy ins, not sure of your ability first of all but if you busted your mini roll don't be to disheartened. Nonetheless, these games play pretty much straight forward and I would approach it no different to if it were an extended 2hour long 1.50 9 max sit and go. Therefore applying some basic sit and go tournament principles with a lot more aggression on big hands. The hands I do win I want to count towards a top 5 finish. If you are playing 4-6 tables you will more often find that you get it in good and sometimes you get it in bad but that you will be paid of large for which ever wins, and that will count.

Playing aggressive on the very top of your range (not many hands at all) you should do well, and not being afraid to open up your push fold range as required in 50/100 blinds if you are still folding and have not been dealt a hand sitting with around 800 chips or so. As long as you are playing quality hands, playing your short stack strongly where you were card dead you will do fine. 1 win in 1st =12.5 buy ins. You are not stuffing around here.

Comments I made to another player in the past about multi-tabling these for profit was:

Early blind stages (up to 50/100)
When I played 100 of these in a few days with a good result I would fold all non premium hands and including most Aq's or worse out of position when in early blinds. I would limp only or fold dealt non pocket pairs 22-TT out of position, only set mining cheaply in a non re-raised pot. I would standard open my mid to premium pairs and AJs+ when in middle position through to the button. I am always going to be pro-actively seeking to stack of all AA Ak Kk preflop regardless; and/or seeking to get it in on the flop as I am most often favorite here. No I am not worrying about flips and coolers at this stage if I am on a 12% range or less. However in the early game I am using discretion according to pot size more than villain reads, and im not committing all my chips on a wet board/blanks which I missed with out having that intention before I entered the hand (inflated 3bet from position pot for example.) This is not a bad way to play because you are counting on the other players being so bad and believe me you will see they are.

Middle blind stages: (50/100 up to around 23 players remaining.)
The critical mark is "kind of" having near 2 double ups to between 4,000 chips and 7,000 chips at 23 to go. The main reason I make note of 23 to go is it is at about this time the blinds catch up with every one and we want to now lock down our stack and stand fast if more than 4,000 chips, and with out any premiums! That will be critical for you to making final table, just don't mess around with the shorties.

Late middle blind stages:
If you are playing 3-8 tables you will find you will get it in good sometimes and sometimes bad but you will be paid largely for those hands which win. Less than 4,000 chips I want to get it in again sooner than 23 -15 players to go but when ever I must, I am always all in, and trying to be first in the pot. the shorter you are, the more you open your range, and if short and 5-7 players play position with out a care. This is your key to final tabling, so far so good sit tight with a good 4,000 chips +. At 15 players to go and if feeling the pinch and really short (1800 chips) we are just getting it in, first in pot Ax, Kx etc etc... At mid to late game, i am mostly open shoving my hands first in to the pot even up to 23 blinds deep but using discretion and position is important, remaining at the top of your range is equally important where possible.

Note: Without premiums you are just going to run with high variance more than this strategy at this buy in which you can't afford. This will ensure you some solid deep money runs. As well the blind increases will just be crushing you at times. Of course i'm never folding jj+ Ajs+ 3k stack late game which is 15 players to go. Folding early as i stated is crucial because your game starts at 50/100 to get you to this point.

Believe me when I say I won games in 1st position from shoving 6bb at 50/100 or 12 to go with 78o or k4s because it folded to me,I was in position and because it was good enough to play that short. So dont be scared if you dont get cards play your stack, play tight and it will work out. If you find you are to tight adjust it for the next game and get a feel for the sit and goes.

Late blind stages:
If you must play - aim to play at between 22-28 to go, and 10-15 to go. These points in the game are best to play non premium holdings ... they are the get In the Money stages.. they will swing your stack to a size to make top 5. If you have enough going into final table sit on it and don't go out 8th kicking your self. (haha yes I did it many times blunderously.) Once into the money folding to top 5 where possible. Top 5 will build your bankroll, and top 5 or 4 here in 5th you will most definitely get a higher percentage of 1st and 2nds than you might perceive as possible, and more than playing between 5-8h. Any win in the top 4 is a good game, and great addition to you roll, fire up some more and play nitty tight.

Lastly, if you get 7th don’t worry but try to not bubble carelessly because it hurts your bottom line more than your ego. Anyway, try this with 2-4 tables and keep clicking fold. I guess you know something about poker but try and see how this goes, being aggressive and patient. The hands will come to you and you will win in spots you thought you couldn’t. ~ keep folding those non premiums. You will make better decisions and there is enough time to take the game as it comes. ..

I am about to arrange a stake and shares this week for 1 usd 45 mans. Here is the link to my 100 games which I applied this strategy. Note: I considered 40 games of that 100 bad play, so profit should have been more in line with the 60 good stuff. My 101st game was a 1st place.

Good luck, man I hope this is going to do you some good. $15 buy ins should be enough to rocket your roll.
