Just joined the PokerStars PokerSchoolOnline. Going to see how the level of play will be. It's a $50 freeroll, so I'm guessing that it will be no more different than a normal freeroll, but we'll see.
I'm of intermediate/advanced skill so we'll see where that takes me (891 players to start).
Hand 4: Utilized Small Ball Poker strategy to see if intermediate players would recognize the betting pattern. Successfully took pot with bottom pair. Led out and bet when an A hit the turn, and no club hit the river.
Hand 13: Raise 4x BB pre with A-10(os). Flop and turn not favorable as it put a straight draw on the board, but called by a player holding 7-6(os). Caught A on river, checked down to prevent additional loss in case he was trapping.
Hand 18: Min-raise preflop by SB...called by 4 players. Stayed in with Qd-7d...lost to QJ....3 clubs on board prevented further betting on river. Player to my left is playing very loose, but not aggressive.
Hand 20: Found 2 players with big pot, all-in pre, tendencies. Very loose callings considering the blinds are only 25-50. (615 players remain).
Hand 26: Gave these players way too much credit. Folded 8-8 with a board of J-T-7-J...players bet on flop. Players turned up A-Q and 8-7. Folded best hand, but couldn't call with that board...
Hand 27: All in with A-K(h). Called by K-Q(d), and 9-9. Tripled up with a flopped flush.
Hand 31: JJ, raised 4.5x BB, called by a ultra-short stack and BB. BB has K-3(d), flop comes 4-5-6, I put him all in for 1600, he insta-calls and does not catch his str8. Up to 5.5K.
Hand 43: SB tries to steal with J-10 by shoving 6K all in. Called by UTG with A-Q for 4K. J-10 hits runner runner for a straight. What part of this is poker???
1st Break (After hand 53): 3,800. 346 players remain. Currently 132nd. Chip Leader = 21,750
1st hand back from break. KQ(os), raised to 650, re-raised to 1100. Hit top pair (Q), trap-checked. Opp. bet 2000, I insta-repop all in. get insta-called by A-7...he only has 3 outs. No pair, no draw, catches A on turn, 7 on river. Out in 334th.
To quote the player....S**t Happens.
Yes....Yes it does. Hate to imagine a donkey like him out-ranking me in the Poker School.
