A New Year

The new year is upon us and, after a break from the tables, I was ready to get back to them. I played my first live tournament yesterday and had a blast. With 189 entrants and the top 10% paid, I finished four short of the money in 23rd. Having only 5 BBs left, I picked up A,K on the button. With only 1 limper in before me, I had to shove. The small blind called my shove with Q,Jo. The flop came 3, Q, J rainbow and I knew I was in trouble. The turn brought a king but the river 2 wasn't one of my 12 outs. In retrospect, I only regret the way I played 2 hands. Both were against the same opponent.

On a positive note, I finished in the money in 2 out of my first 3 online MTTs this year. All were played today. Of the 2 cashes, I was all-in and ahead in both before being knocked out. I was in good shape in the other tournament but, with 13BBs behind,  I made a really bad post flop call and busted. Live and Learn ...

I hope to update my blog a few times a month this year. I've never been one to keep a journal but writing down your experiences really helps you to identify your strengths and weaknesses.
