Terrible week

By: Liptinite @ 20:12 (EDT) / 234 / Comment ( 3 )

Since the 27th September I've been playing terribly in 2NL hold'em cash . I've lost just over 10% of my bankroll. Despite reading strategy books, watching videos etc., my game has got worse and worse. August and most of Sept. saw a steady rise in my BR but now I can't seem to make good decisions and I'm an ultra-fish. Consider tonight, I started with $2 and by the 18th hand I was up to $4, thanks to someone playing worse than me. However, he quit the table and I've ended up losing those winnings, followed by my original buy-in. Something told me to quit the table while I was up but I ignored it. Bloody depressing, I hope I can get over this soon. The Graph in Poker Tracker is hard to look at as all the lines are now sub-zero. I'm trying to figure out how to interpret the data in poker tracker and analyse hands but its slow work and may not be meaningful after 3555 hands. I think one of the problems stems from reading strategy books, I may be applying the advice badly because I don't fully understand the concepts yet.

I know I have two terrible leaks: 1. putting too much emphasis on one stinking pair; 2. not believing my opponent is strong when he bets big on the river (that said, my big win early on tonight was thanks to me not believing the bluff). The most annoying thing is I usually have the best hand pre-flop and post flop but the villain pushes on. I have a tonne of other leaks, so there is a lot to work on.

Bizarrely, even though I consider myself a poor tourney player, yesterday after a bad run on cash games I decided to try a $0.50, 9-seat Sit and Go and won it!! What's going on?? (rhetorical question).

I've just passed the end of the second month since I started playing. So it's still early days. I'm glad to say my BR is still in a very healthy profit thanks to a very good start and the deposit bonuses but I'm determined to stem the flow from the burst main.
