Where the road started.

My journey into the poker world
Send PM

Well I am either doing something right or I am just having a good run.  I believe it is the former as this good run started as soon as I changed the way I approached the game.

The first major change was not buying into micro MTT's, my second was not buying into MTT's that have the rebuy option (I thank dukeofbc for this suggestion) and  third was aiming to stay around the average stack instead of trying to be one of the chip leaders.

Don't get me wrong, I am still making tons of rookie mistakes but now mostly after the bubble.  The difference is I can now spot a lot these mistakes as they happen and fix the leak instead of letting a program like HM (which is a great program) to spot them for me.  I catch myself saying all the time "what the f*&@ was I thinking on that hand"........

Things are definitely moving in the right direction for me and with more study and practice I will have my first major tournament in the bag sooner rather than later..............I hope.

The one thing I am finding hard to control is anxiety(butterflies) and then the adrenaline that is released because of this.  Every hand I play the heart rate goes up and butterflies hit my stomach........  I have never been an anxious person and it takes a hell of a lot to get me nervous but poker seems to smash me every time.   People have suggested meditation exercises help but I cant imaging myself sitting at a live table going into a meditation pose halfway through a hand...... jokes.  I have found certain breathing techniques can help this but I hope it slowly get weaker as time goes on.

Until next time......
