Catching Cosmo342. Part 2

By: McTwain @ 17:50 (EDT) / 191 / Comment ( 0 )
340th place out of 963 players. Ughhh. Cosmo342 coasted into 224th place. Double Ughhh. Will I ever catch this guy? Not the way I've been playing. I was playing the Online Poker Show Freeroll the same time I was playing the 1st PSO Freeroll today. I was never good at playing two games at once and I wanted to gain experience. But I chose the wrong time to do it. I was so busy trying to pay attention to two games, that I lost track of who was doing what, when and why in both games. I went out of both games within seconds of one another. If the goal is to catch Cosmo342, then the strategy should be to go much deeper than Cosmo342 in every game. The strategy is known, so every tactic used must help the strategy. Unless both games are PSO Freerolls, playing two games at once, while great for learning to multi-table, doesn't help me attain my goal. I should have realized this before registering for the Poker Show freeroll - but did not. 1. No more playing more than one table - unless both tables are the PSO Freeroll and I need to play both to accomplish a sound strategy. So I will play two tables until the end of this month, but I won't be mult-tabling at the beginning of next month. I will only play two tables if I am deep in one tournament and the other begins. I have decided to keep my attention on the deeper tournament, and do the Cosmo coast on the other. 2. No distractions of any kind - No more watching television while playing. Watching t.v. is the same as multi-tabling. It also includes writing this blog at the start of the PSO Freeroll!! Which is what I'm doing right now. So no more of that! Because of my poor showing in the first PSO game today, I have to make a decision about playing the 4th game tonight. I played last night, went out 445 of 1,108 and cost myself 16 places. I would be 16 places higher in the league rankings if I had simply stuck to the original plan of three games and gone to bed. The problem with playing three games a day instead of four is simple: The fewer games I play, the deeper I must go in each game to catch Cosmo342. My poor play in the 1st game, combined with the 4th game last night, means I MUST play the 4th game today - and do very well. I think I will have to play the 4th even if I were to take first place in the 2nd or 3rd game today. It is still possible to catch Cosmo342, but it is becoming increasingly improbable due to poor play. But I'm still going to try.
