a chip and a chair

Copied from the PSO Skill League forum: Saturday Oct. 2, 2010

So I just finished cashing at 143 in game 7221 and jump into game 7222, feeling pretty good.
Four hands in I'm in the BB with 86o and check to see the flop:
*** FLOP *** [8d 6c Kh]
I raised 270 to 360 603 and the small blind raises 1110 to 1470 and is all-in.
I call figuring he flopped a pair 1110
*** TURN *** [8d 6c Kh] [Kc] Oops!
*** RIVER *** [8d 6c Kh Kc] [5c]
*** SHOW DOWN ***
jinvt: shows [Ks Jh] (three of a kind, Kings)
Numphar: shows [6h 8s] (two pair, Kings and Eights)
jinvt collected 3060 from pot
*** SUMMARY *** Total pot 3060 | Rake 0 Board [8d 6c Kh Kc 5c]
Seat 1: Numphar (big blind) showed [6h 8s] and lost with two pair, Kings and Eights
Seat 9: jinvt (small blind) showed [Ks Jh] and won (3060) with three of a kind, Kings

Now at this point I have 35 chips left.
My opponent says:
jinvt said, "meh, didnt think you had 8-6 there..."
Numphar said, "no worries"
Numphar said, "I've got one circuit to double up, plenty of time"

I doubled up the two hands later from the button with Qd 8c when the flop came Kh, 3h, Qc. Turn was 5c, river 8h for two pair.
A couple hands later, I doubled up again with 3h3c from UTG.
Now I'm at 945, and back to 30 big blinds, at least for the moment.
Funny thing was, I was just talking trash, but I managed to finish that tourney at 173.
I had a couple awesome turn/river rescues, but my point is was said best by Jack Strauss.
"All you need is a chip and chair."
Losing doesn't mean you're out, just means you need to play smarter.
