Don't panic, Don't panic!

By: Ovalman @ 10:30 (EST) / 240 / Comment ( 0 )

I thought I had easily done enough to stay in the Premier League. Before my last game I was sitting 530th and I had a deep run in my last game just outside the cash.  I thought I had done enough to slip in for a small prize but to my shock and horror I found myself 930th and I was gutted. It seems I was checking the Premier League qualifying table instead of the Premier League doh!!!

I thought I played well enough, possibly a little on the tight side but there are many good players in this that know how to 3 bet and play position.

Thought the above was a good fold btw)

I also lost a lot of coinflips, 88 v KTo, AKs v 22 etc. These things happen. The reason I'm out of the PL is because I didn't play enough tournaments.

Hats off to SuitedSuit. He won the League last month but what is astonishing is this is his 3rd time winning (a record.) $5,000 is no small change and he's won it 3 times. That's a years wage in many countries and shows the value of playing in this. I also noticed he played a load more games than me.

He's most likely a better skilled player than me but he kept grinding. I'm sure he lost many flips just like me but his volume compensated for it.

It's now imperatif that I get back into the league. I'm hoping to make $10,000 in 2017 across all sites and the Premier League is part of that strategy.

Don't Panic!

While I may be gone thanks to a stupid mistake, one thing I never done was panic either in tournaments or hands.

But one thing I see time and time again is the all in shove after a bad beat. Of course some situations dictate that a shove is correct like being ultra short stacked, having nits to act after you or just getting good cards but I also see shoves with any 2 cards, in and out of position.

Your tournament life means everything so even if you're crippled you should still pick your spots wisely. A chip and a chair is very apt in these situations, I've seen me winning tournaments well well behind.

Never give up and let others make mistakes.

Until next time
