PokerStars Weekly Roundup - May 10th

SCOOP 2013 kicks off this weekend.
The world’s biggest and richest online poker series returns this Sunday with a guaranteed prize pool of $40 million. The festival, which runs from May 12-26, features 44 events at low, medium and high buy-in levels, making for a total of 132 tournaments.

100 Billion Hands.
PokerStars is fast approaching the 100-billion hand milestone and as part of the celebration it is giving away $5 million in cash prizes. More information will be unveiled over the course of the next few weeks, but suffice to say it’s going to be a massive promotion.

PokerStars and Monte-Carlo®Casino EPT Grand Final.
Team PokerStars Pro Johnny Lodden was chip leader going into Day 4 of the EPT Grand Final in Monaco with more than 1.2 million chips. A star-studded field of 34 players return for Day 4 today, each already guaranteed at least €21,500 from the €5,310,000 prize pool.

Notable players still in contention include Steve O’Dwyer, John Juanda and Noah Schwartz (756,000) along with Team PokerStars Pros Jason Mercier, Daniel Negreanu and Jake Cody. The winner of this season's EPT Grand Final will take home a first prize of €1,224,000, as well as a luxury Slyde watch.

EPT Season 10 schedule.
With the current European Poker Tour season reaching its climax, the schedule for EPT 10 has just been announced. The next season will take in seven European cities, starting with the immensely popular event in Barcelona from August 28 to September 7. The key scheduling difference from Season 9 is that EPT Sanremo will take place in April next year, just before the Grand Final, which will enable players to spend a month in the Riviera.

EPT Season 10 online satellites start on Wednesday, May 15 at 14.15 (ET) with a €1 freezeout satellite to the first event in Barcelona. Two full packages worth €8,300 are guaranteed. The regular schedule of EPT 10 satellites will begin in late May.

ANZPT Season 5 Repechage.
The first ever Australia New Zealand Poker Tour Repechage event (where players who bust out on Day 1a/b can re-enter on Day 1b/c) will take place in Melbourne’s Crown Casino from May 20 to June 3 and feature 10 events. The Main Event will be an AUD $1,100 buy-in event with satellites from AUD $65 available on all three days.

Eureka Dubrovnik.
The second stop in Season 3 of the popular Eureka Poker Tour heads to the Golden Sun Casino in the beautiful coastal city of Dubrovnik from May 24-30. The highlight of the festival will be the €1,100 Main Event, which will take place from May 26-29.

PokerStars Women raise money in aid of Cancer Research UK.
PokerStars Women are raising money in aid of Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life – the largest women-only fund-raising event in the UK.

Team PokerStars Pro, Liv Boeree, is supporting the campaign and will be running in the 10k Race for Life event on June 1 in Clapham, London. She is aiming to raise £10,000 in sponsorship through her JustGiving page: http://www.raceforlifesponsorme.org/livboeree.

For other women who want to get involved, PokerStars is offering to pay the entrance fee for any PokerStars women who would like to enter a Race for Life event via its new charity programme ‘Helping Hands’.

There will also be the opportunity for entrants to raise money by hosting their own charity fund-raising tournament at PokerStars. Race for Life tournaments will run from June 1-9, each with a $5 + $5 buy-in ($5 to the prize pool, $5 donated to Cancer Research UK).
