Total prize pool for the European Poker Tour (EPT) Malta Main Event in Season 11, which was won by Jean Montury for €687,400 in March 2015. The EPT returns to the Portomaso Casino in Malta next week for a 76-event schedule from October 20-31 that sees the Italian Poker Tour (IPT) and EPT join forces once again. Highlights include the €1,100 IPT Main Event (Oct 21-25), €25,750 High Roller (Oct 23-25), €5,300 EPT Main Event (Oct 25-31), and €10,300 EPT High Roller. Total amount won by world number 20 chess player, Pentala Harikrishna of India, Laurent Fressinet of France, and Gabriel Sargissian of Armenia, who tied for first place at the PokerStars-sponsored International Chess Tournament, which took place on the Isle of Man from October 3-11. Harikrishna was awarded the Masters title on a tie break, while English players Nigel Short and David Howell finished joint fourth, in what turned out to be the strongest open chess tournament held in the British Isles. Jovanka Houska won the Ladies’ event, taking home the top prize of £3,000.

Second Chance Freeroll prize pool up for grabs for players who participate in the International Poker Open Dublin Main Event, which runs from October 21-26. Players will receive a code to get a ticket to the $5k online tournament freeroll (due to take place November 1) and will also be eligible to take part in The Deal Live for a chance to win tournament tickets and Full Tilt merchandise. Buy-in for the Main Event at this year’s International Poker Open (IPO) Dublin. This year’s IPO Dublin Main Event takes place in the Regency Hotel, Dublin from October 21-26. A mega satellite series is currently running until Tuesday, October 20, so there’s still time to qualify for the event.

Running from October 14-18, the UKIPT Super Series features a £550 Main Event, as well as a £1,650 High Roller. The Isle of Man International Chess Tournament, co-sponsored by PokerStars, came to an end on Monday after nine days of intense competition. The Masters section was the strongest open chess tournament ever to be held in the British Isles and was won by Pentala Harikrishna of India, the world number 20. He finished on 7 points from nine games, level with Laurent Fressinet of France and Gabriel Sargissian of Armenia, but won the title on a tiebreak.

In the short film below, celebrities and amateur poker players from around the UK discuss why it’s an important cause and how the charity fund-raiser ‘Lads Night In’ on September 25 helped in the fight against prostate cancer. The closing date for donations will remain open until October 26.
