My 2013 Poker Goals - Time Vault Promotion
Send PM

Happy New Year everyone 2013 has come to an end so it's time to take a final look at the bankroll building part of my Time Vault challenge. Check out my previous blog for a full review.

My #1 goal was to turn a $250 starting bankroll into $2500 by the end of the year. That was asking a lot considering Poker had never really been profitable for me despite having been playing for around a decade. However, using the bankroll building skills learnt through PokerSchoolOnline, along with all the other training resources available, I managed to get very close.

I started December having built my bankroll to $1898.87 & needing to make a further $601.13 to meet my target. I think I played my best poker of the year in December but unfortunately the cards seemed to be falling badly all month. I played very few S&Gs & returned a profit of $5.74. MTTs were a little more successful but I wasn't able to record that one great result needed to push me past my $2500 goal. I made $36.42 in MTTs, along with a further $20 for finishing in the top 500 in the PSO Premier League.

Here's my final cash game graph for the month:

Luck wasn't really with me but there are still plenty of positives to take from it. I made a healthy profit of $104.88 overall & finally made a profit in 10NL Zoom despite running $61 below EV at that stake. I also took a successful look at 25NL Zoom. However, I'm disappointed with my overall performance this year in 10NL Zoom. The move up was a lot tougher than expected & I feel like I have a lot to work on.

Cash: +$104.88
S&G: +$5.74
MTT: +$56.42
Bonus: +$50 (5000VPP Stellar Reward)

JAN: +$106.53
FEB: +$193.12
MAR: +$92.90
APR: +$127.03
MAY: +$129.43
JUN: +$182.28
JUL: +$49.32
AUG: -$14.41
SEP: +$154.47
OCT: +$466.95
NOV: +$161.25
DEC: +$217.04

It feels good to have made a profit in 11 out of 12 months this year I've also made a profit in MTTs every single month of the year.

My results in cash games have also been consistantly good over the whole year but I feel like it's time to make a change. I've struggled to make the move up from 5NL to 10NL & my overall win rate, even at 5NL Zoom, wasn't particularly great. So, I'm going to start a new challenge for the new year which will see me focus on 6max Zoom rather than the full-ring games I've been playing throughout 2013. I'll be posting another blog in a couple of days with all my plans.

For those who don't know the results of the Time Vault Challenge promotion, I finished in the top 10 which earnt me a $50 prize & entry into a $500 Invitational STT Freeroll. Thanks very much to everyone at PSO for running such a great promo & thanks also to everyone who has supported me throughout the year. Big congratulations to all the other Time Vault prize winners, particularly Sandtrap777 (who finished 3rd), TrustySam (2nd) & mr mendes 20 (the overall winner) - all very deserving winners.
