My 2013 Poker Goals - Time Vault Promotion
Send PM

Welcome to my Blog about my Poker Goals for 2013.

I'm from Worksop in England & I'm no beginner to poker. I've been playing on-and-off recreationally for over 10 years & have had a few decent results, including winning a trip to Tallinn to take part in a live event & a few MTT wins. However, overall I wasn't a winning player, so in May 2012 i joined PokerSchoolOnline & quickly realised that my game needed lots of work. I was playing too passively but more than anything else, had never managed my bankroll correctly  That leads me nicely to my first & main goal:

1) BUILD MY BANKROLL FROM $250 to $2500

It was great to hear about the Time Vault promotion as I'd already set myself this personal challenge for 2013 after watching a video from "frosty012" (thanks Tyler!) which you can find here: http://www.pokerschoolonline.com/articles/Building-a-Bankroll Here's my plan:

To start with I'll be playing the follow games (focussing on those in bold):

MTT's up to $3.30

Satellites up to $2.50 (Sunday Storm/Sunday Million/TCOOP/SCOOP etc.)
PSO Premier Skill League (or $1.10 Prem Lg Qualifiers if not in the Premier League)

2) SPEND AT LEAST 2 HOURS PER WEEK TRAINING TO IMPROVE MY GAME

This may be live training, training videos & poker books (I've recently bought "Winning Poker Tournaments One hand at a time" voulmes 1 & 2 which seem really good)

3) LOOK FOR LEAKS IN MY OWN GAME

I'll post hands on the forum that I think I may have played badly & respond to those posted by others. I'll also use Hold-em manager (which I downloaded for the first time on 1st Jan & will buy when the trial is finished) to study previous hands & get more info on opponents.

4) TAKE REGULAR BREAKS

As well as short breaks during sessions I also need to make sure I'm spending enough time with my partner & continue with my other interests (football & hiking) to keep myself fit.

5) EARN 5000VPPs

I work a 40hr week which doesn't leave much time to play poker but I think I can hit this target pretty easily. I'll earn a minimum of 150VPPs a month to make sure I'm eligible for full PSO Premier League prizes & have access to all the videos on the PSO site, with a goal of earning at least 5000VPP's by the end of the year which will earn me a total of $100 in VIP Stellar Rewards.

6) IMPROVE MY LIVE GAME

Something I really need to work on as I've played quite a few online sats to live events, winning entries to 3 of them in the past but didn't have any success. I put this down to lack of experience, in fact... the first time I ever physically sat down at a poker table was a 1000 Euro live event in Estonia!

There's a £5 tournament on Sunday nights at my local casino which I've played a few times - Much needed experience & excellent value. I made my first final table on Dec 30th, bringing home £135 in a 4-way deal.

Last thing, I'd just like to say thanks to everyone at PokerSchoolOnline, particularly the live trainers & team pro/online members for the fantastic videos & training sessions that have helped me so much!
