Professional Recreational Poker

Why would you play these games?

Because my HUD wasnt working on Zoom tables I thought I would have a bash at a regular 50NL Full Ring table.

I wish I hadn't!

My experience of 51 hands was essentially try to get in pots with the one recreational player who lasted about 40 hands! While avoiding the full stack multi-tablers and watching with growing annoyance the conveyor belt of short stackers (appear with $20, make $5+ dissapear, to nearly always be replaced by another hoping to do the same).

I lost less than I did playing 10NL on a Euro site, but enjoyed that far more, because

a) Players were chatting

b) Players didnt hit and run

c) I saw more flops

Regarding the latter, those who know me will appreciate that I am perfectly happy dealing with 3 bets and 4 bets, but for that recreational player whose $21 lasted about 40 hands and got to see two flops, got his limps raised and witnessed the rest of us 3/4/5 betting with very little edge on each other ... why would s/he bother playing these games again?

And if the recreational players dont want to play, I'm not going to want to trade chips with the regulars be they the minority of 100bb players who I can at least learn something from, or the plethora of 40bb hit and runners, who frankly are annoying.

Guess I'll be sticking to Zoom.
