I just don't understand sometimes....

OK,  so I am playing some PSO tourneys today.  Had a fair start, downhill from there (stated this earlier today).  I guess what I am getting at is this... Do people just play completely stupid in freerolls or is that their "style"?

I had KQ in the small, one limper, BB is sitting it out.  I pop it to 3x the blind and get called.  Flop top two and lead out.  Get inta-called.  Turn brings a napkin.  I lead, get re-raised 2.5 my bet and call.  I smooth call the raise, thinking a possible straight draw, planning on moving in if another rag comes down.  The river peels a 3.  I shove.  Another insta-call.  My jaw drops as this cat shows a set of 3s!!!!!       8-O

I can see calling the flop, I could just be C-betting.  But after a second bullet, I get re-raised???     :?:       Then the player is rewarded with a set and off to the rail I go.

I just don't understand.....
