Poker Temptations

By: Redboy23 @ 08:49 (EST) / 274 / Comment ( 0 )
Every PSO League tourney I put on my poker face and tell myself I will play tight aggressive and not risk my tourney early. I wait for nice cards in position and make my standard 4 x BB bet, adjust for limpers, and low and behold I encounter someone who is most likely dominated, shold not call my raise or bet and boom does the unthinkable shoves.

Most times I get the strength to fold  but it is so hard to get over shoving in tournaments, especially when you have a gut feeling you are ahead. You have a set of people who really want to play well and others shove on draws with no logical reason and of course they hit!!! Some care nothing for standard raises and check raises. I try my best but inevitably there are the hands I cannot get away from and my opponents get lucky :( .

I got off to an okay start in the league but had two early knockouts from some lucky river rats. Some players just do not have the word 'fold' in their vocabulary. Anyway I guess I will dust myself off and  start the long climb uphill. To all those who share my pain, hang in there and remember keep playing  properly. I changed my style and started playing for draws but it does not pay off in the long run. I am now trying to play sensibly and by the books and enjoy playing with others who do the same.

Well I will try to avoid the donks and river rats if I spot them at my table and hope to have a monster against them if we end up in a hand. But from now on, any danger of a flush or straight against a player that I have labled such, I get out of the hand early :) .  Sigh,,,writing does make me feel better :) Chin up..hehe .. See you at the tables(Here we go again!)...lol
