In 2012 I read For Richer For Poorer, Victoria Corens account of her experiences of playing Poker. i really enjoyed it  and its possible it reawakend in me a long dorment desire to gamble. Anyway I decided I'd like to give Poker ago.

Not working anymore due to ill health I had plenty of time on my hands but little income and I realised immediately that this could be a bad combination. I did not want my new hobby to punch a hole in the famly finances so I decided that I better at least go and learn how to play.

I started off buying two books off Amazon. Texas Holdem for Dummies and Winning at Internet Poker for Dummies. I thought both were probably aimed a the right level for me! I then opened an account at Party Poker and deposited £15. I started to play in micro-stake limit texas holdem games and at the same time started playing a lot on an XBOX360 game called Full House Poker which was playing for play chips. It allowed me to practice a lot for no risk against bots whilst earning XP. I recorded all the hands I played.

I also started to watch quite a lot of poker tournaments on YouTube which I really enjoyed, probably the first thing I watched was the later stages of WSOP2012.

Around June this year I downloaded the PokerStars software and opened an account. I can't quite remember what prompted me to but it but it may have been after watching Daniel Negraneau on YouTube. I immediately enjoyed the site and especially the educational material on Poker School Online. Unfortunately most of my summer was lost to stays in hospital and further hospital visits but a couple of weeks ago with the children starting back at school I was once again sat at a computer with more time on my hands.....

Since the begginning of September I have been trying to play at least one Poker School Online Tournament a day. Todate I have played 11. As my results show I started off being knocked out early on but last week I was finally placed coming 51st out of 10000 entrants. I felt this was a major achievement and I have started this week trying to see if I can repeat or better the result or whether luck played a huge part and I will return to normal....
