The Little Big Game

Step 1. *Sit down to write a blog entry* and simultaneously *Join a sit n go*

Step 2. *Start to type such inherited wisdom*

           *Beep*....*Call*, *minimise*..... *Beep*

Step 3. *Call hands eratically and swear lots*

Step 4. *Loose, so join another sit and go*

Repeat steps 1-4 several times. Before SITTING OUT to only come back to the game and have POCKET KINGS :) ...... ALL IN and everyone folds.....F***!

Ahh such are the stresses of trying to type a blog entry, or trying to reply to a message on facebook.

On a Tuesday night I play freeroll/pub poker at the cozzy club. Its like a RSA type place, Betting facilities, Bistro, Bar, activities during the week and are affiliates only. But with poker you can sign in as a visitor so its like a free pass into the club for the night. Fantastic venue, easily fits the 150 odd people in for a end of season a big screen to play the footy thats on, on the Sunday whilst playing poker :) . This venue regardless of tournament or normal weekly poker has always been a bit of a HOODOO of a place. Have always struggled to play poker there. Maybe the older folk are a tougher crowd :-P .

AND it didnt start of much better this Tuesday. Theres a break every 30mins and blinds go up every 15mins. Well I was out before the blinds went up for the first time! I had a buy in (You get a chip up card and can use it to buy back in, once per night, per venue though) and even after chipping up it wasnt looking to good. Atleast Tuesday nights arent bad for television :-P if I did have to go home early. Anyway a few tough calls later I had a average stack. Took a 36k knock at one stage when I led ALL IN preflop on Poket QUEENS! The guy to call, wanted to go have a smoke.......he went all in on A 9 offsuit :/ Ace hit the flop.....*SIGH*....Still had enough to chip up a wee bit to 65k then leaped to 120k....until me and this guy had another showdown. I was on the button with Poker Nines....this time it was final table. 4 of us left. No Bubble!....he checked, I went all in.......he called, flopped his ACE AGAIN!!! him back though a few hands later when I went all in on J 10 suited (I play Queen Six far more frequently than that hand, I advoid it like 5 2 off suit)....this move was made on the flop when all i had was a Queen on the board. He had me beat with two pair........TURN.....KING!.......RIVER..........................ACE!

I still ended up coming 4th....Ace high flush on the turn vs a king high flush they got also on the turn....but the other person all in.....A House built on Jacks over nines FLOPPED!

Maybe the hoodoo slept in. But playing final table is AMAZING, regardless of the type of game your playing. Its like sit n go but you have more chips and you had to get through more people, more bad beats, more bluffs, etc etc to get there. And the cards seem to be EASIER to play.

One common opinion around the scene, mainly shared by the wise old folk is that;

"It doesnt matter who has the most amount of chips at the final table, as anyone can still win it".

Which is very true and being at the final table a number of times myself grinding it out to beat the bubble or to be all in first up to just make the big blind. In two hands you can go from being forced to be all becoming chip leader. Its the best and worst time to play, depending on where you sit at the table but not matter if your a donkey, playing loose or tight as knot, it always makes for better poker!
