Fair or Fixed?

By: Royal Koosh @ 07:59 (EDT) / 53 / Comment ( 4 )

I am sure that by now just about everyone has heard other players say that Pokerstars is rigged and they favour certain players, yadda yadda yadda . There is (in my opinion) only some truth to this. Personally I do believe that Pokerstars is fixed to a certain point. I do not think that it favours any specific player but more so rewards good play (which a good player does consistently).  I also think that any person who completely ignores the idea of Pokerstars being fixed is in other words just silly. Dont get me wrong I love online poker, possibly even more than live simply for its convienence and the ability to play multiple tables and tons more hands at once. Compare the way online plays out according to live. In online anytime you have a pocket pair multiple players will have a pocket pair at least half the time and aces lose an unreal amount of the time to hands that have no business being in the hand at all. This rarley happens in live poker in both situations. On a daily basis now when playing, I am witnessing or being involved in an all in situation, I find that i can guess the outcome/winner more than half the time, even going as far as calling out if the person will hit their outs on the turn or river. Call me crazy/bad player/wrong whatever I could care less its my personal opinion. Their so called "random" shuffling system is the biggest joke of all and the heart of the problem as it deals out the beats and whatnot that bring about these accusations if you will. Pokerstars says that they understand that a use of a fair and unpredictable shuffle algorithm is critical to their software and every shuffle is random depending on certain independent sources of random data such as user input, mouse movements and events timing whatever that means. That is complete crap. They do not specify what user input is exactly and mouse movements?? how do they know what our mouse is doing besides what button we click. same goes for events timing, it just sounds like a big pile of BS. If someone does know a detailed explanation of these factors PLEASE tell me i would love to know. Anyway ive said enough for one night about my thoughts on the subject. I will leave you with a quote. "Anyone who considers arithmetic methods of producing random digits, is of course, in a state of sin". - Jon von Neumann
