My Pokerstars Diary - A few dollars more

MY POKERSTARS DIARY – A FEW DOLLARS MORE

Today I decided that I had to use my will power and brain power to play poker on POKERSTARS with a small deposit and try and increase it to a mind blowing amount.

After all Tom Durr was said to have started out with just $25.00 and now he’s a millionaire.

Okay, so today 7th January 2014, I’ve deposit $44.00, already had $0.63, so grand total is $44.63.

The trick is as far as professional poker players say is to start out small, using like up to 5% or less of your bankroll each time you play, i think i am using more % then i should, but i think that i am a fairly good player and should be able to ride the ups and downs and come out on top.

So first level that I am going to play is 0.02/0.05 blinds, No Limit, six handed tables, and see how I well I do from there.

First I am putting in some ground rules for myself, because without rules things will go south and you’ll get nowhere.

1. Put only $5.00 on the table and if I get to double my money on the table, get up and leave for the rest of the day.

2. Lose that $5.00, play another table with $5.00, and then use rule number one.

3. Lose the second $5.00, which is a total $10.00, then leave Pokerstars and then start fresh again the next day using the rules number one and two.

I find that often my leaks are that when I am winning, I start to enjoy playing poker and then fall into the trap of getting greedy, which then is when i make lots of mistakes and lose.

Both are powerful emotions that need to be curbed, because in the long run it will cost you money, “Enjoyment” & “Greed”.

Leave your emotions at the door

Okay, rules are in place, let’s go and play some poker, and hope that I can curb those powerful emotions and remain in control.

$5.00 - 0.02 / 0.05 No Limit tables and Six handed

07.1.2014

1st game - $5.00 Lost.

Okay, I started out good, my chip stack was yo-yoing and it was a struggle to make it to the $10.00 mark.

Frustration abounds and I’ve lost the first $5.00, so this is my last and only game for today, time to quit before it gets worse.

Not a good day to start my road to millions…dam it !!

08.1.2014

2nd game - $10.03 Profit

Feeling good right now, overall I am up just over $5.00 in profit after my $5.00 lost yesterday.

Quit for today as it’s a nice feeling to leave on a high.

09.01.2014

3rd game - $5.00 lost

Bugger, had a tough time here, hardly any decent cards.

Had to bet a few times here and still got outdrawn by other players.

4th game - $5.00 lost

Getting frustrated here, different table but with the same problems as above.

Okay lost $10.00 today, now I’m quitting for the day and looking to start afresh tomorrow.

$4.63 less then I started out with….

5TH game - $5.07 profit

Okay I said I was quitting for the day, but determination ruled my head as I was determine not to have a $10.00 lost today.

So now I have only $4.93 lost today rather than $10.00 or even worse $15.00 if I had lost that game.

So it seems that “Determination” is also a very strong emotion that I have to do battle with.

Or was it that determination got the better of me, or was it greed that did the damage..?

It’s hard for me to describe those feelings “Determination” and “Greed”, are they both the same..?

Maybe later I will find the answer to this question.

So Yesterday and today's result are done, now i'm off to do battle with myself and stop myself from playing more poker today.

On a good run now, need to keep the emotions in check.

Till tomorrow goodbye all.
