Stelios1979

The last 3-4 days i have been playing pretty well but somehow, i managed to get kicked out of all the tournaments with hands that we are all waiting to get. AA KK AK QQ.
Therefore i didnt have any cashouts and my bankroll is going down significantly.

I ve been doing pretty well in the PSO league finishing 12th and 23rd but this is not my month as i only started playing around the 20th of march or so. I will be playing next month for the money allthough if i play the remaining days i could climb a couple of hundred places and hopefully i will be in the first 1000.
I must say even though its for peanuts, i really enjoy the game on PSO league.
The atmosphere is far better than playing in any other tournament and people (most of them) respect each other.

Few words about pokerstars:

I have the outmost respect for people that work in pokerstars and i am absolutely satisfied with the level of professionalism that they show in every opportunity.
They have developed effective mechanisms that solve any problem almost istantly.
Not even 1 email that i ve sent them remained unansered and the replies were long explanatory emails.
Here in pokerstars i feel that i am respected and as long as this is the case, i will not deposit $0.01 in another online poker room.

The PSO is a fantastic oportunity for everyone to find all these valueable information gathered in one place and most importantly...for free!!
The difference between a PSO graduate and another player could be some hundreds of dollars (if not thousants) for the same (or even less) amount of knowledge.
I suggest to take all courses and benefit from this opportunity at the max!

Thanks for reading.

Hand of the day:

This was a hand that cost me the tournament run. There are some parameters that are worth discussing.
I was in the BB so i would be first to act. The initial raiser was UTG and raised 1k 4 times the blinds. A guy in middle position calls and with a hand i would probably fold, considering the pot odds which was around 4.5 to 1 i called to see the flop. The raiser was a tight oponent. The caller was a loose agressive player who played in a game earlier where he put all his chips for a flush draw in the turn with only one card to draw. He hit his draw and threw the oponent out of the tournament.

smett55: calls 1000
Stelios1979: raises 1000 to 2000
jarkka 71: calls 1000
smett55: calls 1000

At this point i checked to the raiser where he put in 1k the loose just called and my read at the moment was that the raiser didnt have anything and the loose/agr was on a draw. I decided to minraise to have them both in the game and then attack in the turn. The reason i chose this approach was because the loose player would call any bet at the flop if he was on a draw. If the river card dont improve his hand then his chances are much slimmer and thats exactly how it went. My strategy was to bet at the turn and if i see a diamont on the river fold.

*** TURN *** [5d Qd Qh] [8h]
Stelios1979: bets 3000
jarkka 71: folds
smett55: calls 3000
*** RIVER *** [5d Qd Qh 8h] [Jd]

And of course the river card was Jack of diamonds. At this point i felt i was beat but i played my cards right untill now. The stupid part is that even though i somehow knew i was beat and checked to him i called the all-in raise. Thats the different between a good player and a bad player. You have to lay down big hands if you are beat! And even though i knew that, i called! I called as if i didnt want to play anymore. WRONG MOVE with 3,4k chips i could still be in for a double up. In poker just like in life you never give up! NEVER EVER EVER GIVE UP. I knew that, but i gave up! I hope this will be a lesson to me for next time.
On that note, there was a tournament that i lost almost all my chips and went down to $30 and blinds were $400/$800 at the moment.
Dont ask me how but in 5 minutes i went up to $30,000!!! I know its possible so i should have folded and fight for every chip i had left.
Hope this helps your future decisions.
