Week 2: Running Good

By: T-MacDaGoon @ 15:42 (EST) / 217 / Comment ( 0 )

First off I've decided my blog every Sunday night or Monday morning (depending on how well I do in Sunday's tournaments). This is because Sunday is the big day of the week for poker where they have all the Hotter and Bigger tournaments with larger guarunteed prize pools. Also I'd like to appologize for not having posted this on Monday, we're in exam week here I had an exam on Monday which occupied most of my time.

The Positives:

This past week I've had a little bit of run good. I managed to make 2 final tables, and cashed in 2 of 7 buy in tournaments, as well as multiple Premier Skill League cashes, and a profitable week of 6 max Sit & Go's. Notable MTT cashes include:

Poker School Online Premier League Qualifier: 9th place for $3.60

The Hotter $0.55: 814th place for $1.10

Poker Scool Online Premier Skll League: 7th place for $0.35

All other MTT cashes were too miniscule to be worth mentioning (under $0.25)

All in all this was a very profitable week (for me) I started the week with $51.07 and ended the week with $59.03 which is about a 15.5% increase to my bank roll. Most of these earnings come from having a good Sit & Go win rate where I tend to cash about 50% of the time and win about 25% of the time.

The Negatives:

Unfortunately I didnt get into any tournaments via satellite, I busted early once and twice I buasted as the bubble was approaching. Several of the tournaments I busted in were close to the bubble. In The Hotter $0.55 I feel like I could have gone alot deeper, but I took 2 bad beats against the same player, once getting it all in against him while I was the big stack with ace king against his king jack pre flop and the flop came king, 9, jack. The second time was against the same player for my tournament life. I had po6cket aces and was able to get it all in pre flop (this time he was the big stack, and I had between half and one third of his stack size). He decided it would be good to call my all in  with 4, 5 of diamonds. The flop came 4, 8, 4, and once again I was out flopped, and the turn and  river didn't bail me out. I dont want to come off as whining about a bad beat, I just thought I would talk about a story that left a bit of a sour taste in my mouth. To complete the negatives column for the week, in two of The Hot $0.55 tournaments I busted out just before the bubble, but there were no interesting stories to tell there, just lost coin flips.

As for my goal of achieving a final table, I feel it hasnt been achieved just yet, both tournaments that I final tabled were private tournaments, and neither of them put the cool spotlight on my head. Also you might be wondering why I joined the premier qualifier league tourney, let me assure you it was entirely on accident, I clicked the wrong tournament ticket and saw premier in the tiltle and clicked register, and yes there is a pop up that makes sure you want to buy into the tournament, I was just too oblivious to notice, and by the time I'd realized what I had done, the tournament was starting.

I feel like my game still needs improvement, and isn't really where I want it to be just yet and although I have been profitable, I think I can be much better, and want to get much better. Alot of what I need to improve on is the sort of stuff that comes along with just playing poker over time, reading situations better and having the patience to play smart every single hand. I feel like I make to many small errors that end up adding up later on.

Hopefully for next week I'l have achieved my goal of gettting that spotlight to shine over my head, and if not then a least I'l have some stories to tell. Untill then I wish everyone the best of luck at the tables, just not when they're playing aginst me.
