Week 7: A H.U.D. Experience

By: T-MacDaGoon @ 18:52 (EST) / 50 / Comment ( 0 )

This week I decided to test out a heads up display for poker to see how much it really helps out, and the answer I came up with was ALOT!!! I took the 30 day free trial of Poker Tracker 4, and it has improved my game significantly IU cashed in what feels like over 50% of my tourneys, was majorly profitable, made several deep runs and was able to make plays based on reads I had on opponents. For example, I my HUD stats on a particular opponent showed that he was 3 betting pre flop over 35% of 30 hands, so when i had ace jack in the hi-jack (button -2) position and he 3 bet all in I decided to call him, and sure enough he turned over ace rag, now this didn't stop him from sucking out on me and flopping 2 pair, but I felt amazing for the brief pre flop second or two (unfortunately after the flop I was sick to my stumach as it was deep in the tournament and my life was on the line, and yeah he busted me out of the tournament, but I got it in good, and thats all you can really hope for). So as I already mentioned, this week was really profitble due to a series of tourney cashes (some large, some small), and I managed to turn my $117.73 bank roll into $170.44 which is a profit of $52.71 (more than double last weeks profit). I was also awarded $5.00 for coming in 65th place on the low orbit, Mercury division, Battle of the Planets leaderboards for Sit & Go's (which I didn't even know existed lol). So I largely reccomend getting a HUD for those who arent sure about using a HUD. At first it will seem extemely complicated, but give it a few hours of your time and you should be able to set up your own personalized HUD with color coded ranges and any statistic you think is important. Also the video archive contains some great HUD tutorials by The Langolier http://www.pokerschoolonline.com/articles/Session-28-HUD-Heads-Up-Display-Usage and ChewMe1 http://www.pokerschoolonline.com/articles/HUD-Tutorial-for-MTT-s which are useful for both Hold 'Em Manager and Poker Tracker heads up display software customization.

As for my goal of hitting silver star by the end of the month, I have fallen a bit behind and am at just over 164 VPP, but I plan to catch up for the end of next week. In the Premier League I have dropped even further, though I have been playing better in the league, the cards just don't seem to be going my way; however, I plan to work my way back up, and once I stop getting coolered by the decks (kings vs aces once, a set of 8's vs a set of jacks, etc.) I am going to do all I can to storm the leader boards and finish the month in the top 80 as I originally planned. Now comes my cashes for the week.

Tourney Cashes:

Big $3.30, won $14.37, placed 113/3,685

$1.10 buy-in, won $8.52, placed 30/3,790

Big $2.20, won $5.83, placed 217/4,489

$0.22 buy-in, won Big $2.20 ticket, placed 1/122

$0.22 buy-in, won Hot $2.20 ticket, placed 1/341

$0.44 buy-in, won Big $2.20 ticket, placed 1/84

$0.44 buy-in, won Big $2.20 ticket, placed 1/78

$1.10 buy-in, won $1.90, placed 112/1,000

$0.55 buy-in, won $1.85, placed 90/2,178

free roll, won $0.76, placed 353/13,100

$0.55 buy-in, won 0.76, placed 131/925

5th place in a Premier Skill League tournament

So if you compare this week to last week you will be able to tell that there are alot more cashes this week than last week, and I made alot more money this week, and I think I owe alot of that to my HUD. If any one has any questions about what I statistics I use or want to share the stats they use, please feel free to leave a comment below, and as usual I wish everyone the best of luck at the tables, just not when theyère playing against me.
