SNG vs Double Up

By: TOO2COO @ 17:51 (EDT) / 807 / Comment ( 1 )

I saw a thread about double ups and wanted to give you another look from a 1 Table SNG players view

If you not a cash player I would say play the 9man SNGs  that pay top 3, much more cash to be made over the long run then in Double ups + it really helps your tourney play.

Doubles up be more about folding and playing like a satellite as in a 6 man 3 pays so 3rd same as 1st  and in a 10 man 5 pays so 5th same as 1st

Here is a sample of my last 12 Sit-N-Gos

GAME 1 - Turbo 9, $1.62, 5/9, - $1.62

GAME 2 - FTE 9, $3.30, 2/9, + $4.80

GAME 3 - PLO Reg 9, $1.65, 8/9, - $1.65

GAME 4 -  Reg 9, $3.30, 7/9,  - $3.30

GAME 5 - Reg 9, $1.65, 6/9, - $1.65

GAME 6 -  Reg 9, $3.30, 9/9,  - $3.30

GAME 7 - Reg 9, $1.65, 3/9, +$1.05

GAME 8 - Reg 9, $1.65, 4/9, - $1.65

GAME 9 -  FTE 9, $3.30, 1/9, +$10.20

GAME 10 - Reg 9, $1.65, 4/9, - $1.65

GAME 11 - REG 9, $3.30, 1/9, + $10.20

GAME 12 -  FTE 9, $3.30, 1/9,  + $10.20

Total Games: 12
Cashed: -  5
1st: -  3
2nd: - 1
3rd: - 1
Not Cashed: - 7

PROFIT + $21.63

FTE = Final Table Experience ya start with 1 million chips and blinds start at 1k ante  10k/20k

as you can see I cashed in less then 1/2 my games but still made a +$21 profit.

I mix in buy-ins for my games do to the small site I play. So we will use the math on the $3.30 as this was the top buy-in for this session If you were playing $3 double ups you would need to cash in 9 of the 12 to make more profit then I did cashing in just 5 of the 12.

(12 x 3.24 = $38.88 so cash in 9 = $27.00 - the rake on 12 games is $2.88 = Profit of $24.12)

Over the years I have found Single Table Tourneys to help my overall MTT game more then anything.

1 table SNGs is the Truest money maker for a Non cash player. They can get boring playing them day in and day out but if you can not make money playing 1 table games you have more to work on before you try and chase your dreams of being an MTT Hero

I make my money to play MTTs from my SNG play with out it I be making a lot of deposits.

Any way just a few things for you to think about.

As with playing Poker there is so much more to think about then just the cards, keep this in mind when deciding on what game your choosing to play, along with Round Speeds, Structures, and Payouts always have a plan before you just click Join

I have for the most part had success at Single table SNGs as Al Spath has spent a lot of time helping me back in my early days of playing at Bugsy's  it is the one game I have been able to show success at over the years

I have always had the best runs on the smaller sites over the years I think mostly to playing against the same people but have had some good runs at the big sites to

May the Felt stay soft, and the Chips Pile High
