My Poker Adventures :)

Light at the end of the tunnel :)

By: VareckRay @ 11:02 (EST) / 630 / Comment ( 1 )

Well what a rollercoaster the last few days have been for me!

I did in fact go from being an ok player, I do mean just ok, to being completely clueless lol

I lost 100+ points in 2 days after I'd been making steady progress up the leaderboard. However I think I'd just been treading water so to speak and despite finishing tourneys with a positive points it was "as you were" really.

Then I had my nightmare so I started to use some of the things I'd learnt in the live training sessions and courses. Analysing hands after the games has proved invaluable. Pokerstove is awesome, it put me straight on a few things :)

I set myself a few goals when I joined PSO (perhaps my first mistake?) they were,

1) Finish in the top 1000 of the league (582/1759.40)
2) Identify and sort out weaknesses in my game - ongoing
3) Reach a final table - check
4) Better my previous best - check
5) Win a tournament - check

Looking at that list it sll seems a bit passive tbh and I know it had an effect of how I approached the games I played. This is my new set of goals

1) Identify and sort out weaknesses in my game
2) Win every tournament I enter

lol trying to put this more positive approach into practice yesterday I realised a few things about my game, my strengths (hehe I do actually have a couple!) and my many weaknesses and a few important things about my opponents. In the end I am pretty happy with the results.

Not breaking open the champagne just yet but I think I might have improved a little over the last month, and yesterday I was able to put into practice some of the things I've learnt, with positive effect :) I guess I will find out soon enough if It was just a lucky day but I honestly don't think so :)

Good luck for Feb Folks, see you at the tables :)
