That's how we improve...

Recently, I played 2.20$ 3K Gtd Zoom tournament. Everything was fine, I had average stack and bubble was close. And most importantly I played good poker. Until that hand...

I got . I Made standard raise from EP and get called by BB. flop came   . BB bets half of pot. I decided to call and see what he does on turn. Its still good chance I have the best hand right? Turn . Sooner that I realised that I improved, BB bets 720 into 900 pot. I call. River . BB shoves with 6000 and puts me all-in. I am mad. I am thinking: "Jesus, what does he have??". Time is running down fast. I knew few straights and ofc flush is now possible. I have last 5 seconds to make decision. Last thing what was on my mind before I made call was: "Why would he bets that big on turn?" Without answering to myself I clicked call button. Too bad for me, I didnt ask myself: "Why would he shove river?". He had  and I was out of the tournament.

First few minutes after elimination I blamed everybody and everything but myself. "thats unbelievable, they always make those flushes against me". "Why that freakin K had to come on turn". Classic moaning, I guess most of you know that

Later that day I checked that hand once again with clear head. It was just terrible fishy call. How could I call that, what am I beating KQ? He's not shoving there with KQ... So I only beat bluff. Guy just hits his flush draw, it will happen in decent number of times. No one wants me to lose, there's no doomswitch. I just made mistake and I paid for it. Mistake which I will avoid now. And that's how we improve. By learning from our mistakes (or from other people mistakes if you are smarter than me ).

It reminded me of very popular czech singer Karel Kryl. In his song Dekuji (translation: Thank you) he's singing:

"Thank you for the failure, which will learn me of diligence"
...
"Thank you for the anguish, which will improve the work"

He always knew what he is singing about...
