Paying attention!

By: apachooo1 @ 04:02 (EDT) / 50 / Comment ( 2 )

I really don`t like to play many tables at once. 2 tables at max and allmost only tourneys. This I enjoy becouse I can keep track of all the players, like who is passive, who is stealing, trying to figure out hand ranges everyone playes an so on...

To the story:

Im BB fairly deep in and everyone folds. The SM raises smallish and I have Jd8d. I decide to flatcall. The flopp comes 2c 7d 9d. SM raises, And I go ahead and put him all-in with my draws. I really want him to have a monster, like tripps or pockets and call me. Wich he does, with 2s10c. Go figure right. Of course I miss all my draws and he takes the pot. I`m like "whats a donkey"

After a while, quite a while, I`m thinking about that hand and that "donkey" and I realize that while I thought it was really going my way, had a clear picture of the table, I really didn`t pay any attention to the guy next to me. It occured me that I didnt even remeber him playing a hand. Then it came to me.

This guy was sitting there for well over 30min without playing a hand at a very active table. He finally got into a flopp and flopped a pair. He then decides to go with it, kinda make it or break it. And I really dont blame the guy. The blame is all on me since I didn`t think about that at all untill afterwards. If I had this in my mind then I would never put so much pressure but just call and try to keep the pot small.

Anyway, those are my thoughts about that situation. Paying attention to all and everything is key to winning a tourney for me. Or at least make it into the money.

What do you think? Would you have played it different?
