Playing outside the BR live

By: birdayy @ 12:00 (EST) / 318 / Comment ( 2 )

Usually playing 5nl, I decided to play a $50 tourny at the casino, having heard how soft the field is.

With 200 runners, the prize pool was $7,920. Unforunately the structure of this tournament was pretty horrible. $3k starting stack with 25/50 and blinds going up every 20 minutes.

Play was pretty bad all night. Managed to coast into the money (20 places payed) with an average stack, and picked my spots to stay around average. I ended up final tabling and coming 6th for $375, which is a considerable boost to my BR. Last hand I shoved K9o on the button with 11 or so BB and ran into AK

With such a fast structure, there wasn't much room for post flop play, but I was pretty happy with how I played. Definately owe some of it to PSO.

Anyway, once the tournament ended I played some $1/$2 with some of my winnings and won another $20 or so (rake was 10%. seriously. im not kidding). Felt pretty cool shuffling my $5 chips, especially when you are used to numbers on a monitor.

Anyway, definately my most profitable night in poker. Will definately try and play it again soon.
