My poker journey (or My road to millions).

/Apr/2011

Hugely overdue update!

So... first off, the FL Million.  Played in a $130 sat.  5 cashed (3 hundred something to 5th, 4 $550 tourney seats).  Busted out in 6th.  Bubble boy!  But... I played poorly towards the end.  Didn't commit enough, pushed out of too many pots.  Then blinds got me.

I decided to look at some of the training from PSO.  WOW!!!!!  The live videos and the MTT Course have totally changed my game!  The Langolier, if you are reading this, you are wonderful!  I felt like I had hit a plateaue of learnig.  I felt like I was a good player, and my learning by leaps and bounds was over.  After 2 years or so of playing, I felt like I was about as good as I was going to get.  BOY, WAS I WRONG!  Session 2 on commitment and 14 on fold equity changed my game.  I went on Sunday to play in a $45 live tourney.  Started at 5 tables, first prize was over $600.  I was bearly on time to register.  I played some bad poker up to the first break, but tripled up at about 2 big blinds (400 ish) right before the break.  After the break, I relaxed and played the best poker I've ever played.  Built up to a strong holding (a little above 10,000).  About average.  Down to 2 tables, with the chip leader to my left.  I just knocked out the person that was in the big blind, so I was dealer, chip leader (of the table, and probably the tourney, with about 20,000) was the big blind.  The guy to my right was the first caller.  I had 4,5 diamonds.  I called.  the big blind raised to 2000.  a good size raise, but not to large at this point.  I put him on another steal, so I called to see what the flop held.  I figured with a staight or flush draw, I'd push out of position and he would probably fold.  I put him on a medium hand, maybe k 10, k 9, etc.  Flop came 4 5 8 rainbow.  I checked, figureing he wifted the flop and would bet, then I'd come in over the top.  He pushed.  I called, showing 2 pair.  He said a profanity under his breathe and showed pocket 7's.  I was ahead, and hoping to become the chip leader after this pot.  He caught a 6 on the turn to knock me out.  I played great, though.

Well, this is getting really long, so I'll update the really good stuff tonight or this afternoon.  To be continued...
